Cramping with the coil - Should I try again?

I have used the Mirena coil in the past, but had to have it removed after a few weeks as the constant cramping was unbearable.

After having it removed I have tried various pills, but had problems with them all, and have decided that I no longer want to use and hormone based contraception.

At the moment DH and I are using condoms, which arent great.

We dont want any more children (but dont know how we would feel if something disastrous happened). DH is willing to have a vasectomy.

Im not sure about this, as it does seem a shame to have an irreversible procedure that seems like it would take a couple of days to recover from if there was something reversible that I could do that might have less recovery time.

I have been wondering about getting a standard IUD - Im worried though about the cramping happening again, and having to have it removed again.

Has anyone had an IUS/IUD removed before because of pain and then had another one that didnt cause problems, or is it the kind of problem that will recur?
Or would the cramps have gone away if I had stuck with the IUS for longer?

Apologies for the lengthy post and any advice would be gratefully received Smile

Can't really answer your question, bigstripeytiger, but your post was helpful to me. I had a Mirena coil fitted two weeks ago and am still having stomach cramps and bleeding. Will this last indefinitely?!
