Hi All. Newly vasectomised dad here! Very keen to hear from men / partners of men who have gone through this procedure, about after-care. Particularly seeking advice about jock straps (!) etc, washing and other yucky details. Man is in pain!!! Thanks :)

gently clean and be careful my poor dp got infection even so. nothing tight as will hurt but should all be fine after 2-3 days my dp was told, however it wasn't,if that happens see doc. Hope you had an easier time than he did as his anasthetic wore off as doc cut poor beggar made sucking noise and had to get top up of the local anesthetic.
Tip for all men though when partner in labour and you both don't want more tell them you'll have vasectomy done and then you don't get called nasty things my dp did this and was so happy told him i loved him repeatedly instead while in labour

My DP swears by jock strap maybe need a spare too or some tightish fitting underwear for when it goes in the wash!Swelling and bruising take about 5/6 days to calm down.

Snug y-fronts day and night, ibuprofen and regular cold compresses seemed to do the trick. And lots of sympathy.

Thanks. Getting better day by day. Co codamol has been a good friend to me! I swear people are swinging their shopping baskets towards me right at the wrong height on purpose!

Well I think since DH will get free on NHS, a trip from London to NY for vasectomy is hard to justify. Though I'm sure he'd have a ball.

Papaelsie - How did you feel about getting it done? Am 12 weeks into my second hellish pg, really want DH to have a vasectomy any time. I am not sure he is keen, but there is no way on Earth that I could cope with another pg, even if this one is not succesful.
