Help - new contraception needed

I'm currently using the Mirena but I'm really not happy with the constant spotting. In the past I've tried oral contraceptives (despite me telling dr I fell pg while on it I was told it would be fine, then I fell pg again - doh). I got on really well with the depo injections but cannot use them anymore as I've used them for the maximum amount of time.

DH won't consider the snip (and I don't want this to turn into a rant about how insensitive and selfish he is so please don't say that!) so I've been considering it for me but I'm not yet 100% sure TBH.

No is he all that chuffed with condoms. Does anyone have any experience with the cap / diaphragm?

How long have you had it in? I've got it and just having regular light periods. Was told I could expect spotting for first 3-4months and then it would settle down.

There's a Diaphragms and Caps group on Yahoo which you might find helpful.

I used to use a combination of FAM, the Oves cap with homemade spermicide, and occasional condoms but it's been discontinued and I haven't found another I like.

I have used a diaphragm for 4 years without any failure.

Advantages:
Quite crude but if the oven is not completely warmed up the spermicide you add can make things a lot easier.

A lot less invasive than a condom

No hormones or remembering to take anything.

I have had lots of accidents with condoms they have been put on by different people and I have had many snap with numerous partners so I find it more reliable.

Disadvantages:

Quite tricky at first to put in but after a bit only takes a second.

It does have to be left in for about 8 hours afterwords but you cant really feel it so it does not irritate that much.

Hope this helps any further questions happy to help.

I had the merina fitted on 10th August and had it removed on 9th September (just about a month).., I did not get on with it at all..!! Experienced excrutiating cramps and lots of bleeding. I started to bleed on 5th September (not sure whether it was my period or not, but I think so), but I bled for a week (and my normal periods are only a for 2 days).., so I had it taken out on the 9th September when I was still bleeding. I then had unprotected sex on the 11th September (2 days later) I was still slightly bleeding. However, I am now wondering could I have got pregant??? Any ideas?
