Hi, my daughter is 4 and currently doing ballet lessons I am thinking about her doing tap dancing in Sept by which time she will be 4 1/2. The teacher has said that if she start's tap it's advisable to keep the ballet going as well. I dont know anything about dance could somebody explain why please? Thankyou

Ballet is very good for disapline and good posture. My daughter does ballet, tap , modern and national. Baleet is her least favourite but I can see that it does help with her other dances.

In a general way, I agree with going, the ballet will help her to be better at tap and vice versa.

IMO your dd is very young, so I don't know how important that all is. I would say the most important things are that she enjoys it and makes progress.

If she were 10, it might be that ballet would be harder to pick up again later if she stopped. I'm not sure how true that is at 4.

Ballet is seen as giving the technical foundation to be able to do all other dance forms well.
