Hi DD2 wants to take up dancing classes but doesn`t know which style/type she wants to try. She has mentioned ballet and tap and ballroom. Just wondering what types of dance do your DC do/have tried and would you recommend them.
My DD is the type of child that can never sit still and sings and dances just about anywhere she goes so I am also considering something alsong the lines of stagecoach but cheaper.
Cheers in advance of any advice.

dd does ballet, tap, modern and jazz. Her favourites are tap and modern. Modern and jazz are most akin to musical theatre styles.

Could she try a few of them and see what she likes?

DD is 6 and does ballet, tap and jazz. She still likes ballet best but I think that's because she's done it for longer and so knows she's better at it than the other two. Most of her friends prefer tap & jazz and a lot of the older girls drop the ballet.

I can see why tap & jazz would appeal most to an energetic little girl, although there's a strong argument to say that the ballet gives them a firm basis on which to learn other dance disciplines... in terms of the discipline, listening well, strengthening exercises, posture etc.
