Can someone please recommend a book suitable for an 8 year old taking up the clarinet.

I would go with whatever your dc's teacher recommends.

I used to be a clarinet teacher and thought "Learn as you play Clarinet" quite a nice tutor book. But agree with MollieO that the teacher will have a recommendation that she likes.

As a matter of interest- Is your DD is quite tall? Eight is quite young for the clarinet both in terms of hand size, strength and amount of puff! If they start too young and struggle to make a good sound it can put them off.

Abracadabra is probably the most popular book in general use.
