My daughter was told she could join at Whitsun but we stil havent heard anything. I dont know whether it is worth getting in touch with them again as if they stop for the summer it wont be worth her starting now. Do they usually run through the hols or not?

Not normally through holidays. Might be worth getting in touch though in case there has been a mix up, and they will soon be allocating places for Sept start.

Dd's group used to stop for the holidays.

When we were told we could join at a particular time, we just had to turn up at that time - not wait to hear anything else. Perhaps that's what they expected you to do? Maybe you could contact them before the end of term with a view to your daughter starting after the holidays.

no.
but they did probably expect you to just turn up having been told that.
we did the same thing with beavers, and started a term later...

I run a Browenie pack.

Units do normally close for school holidays. I'd be pretty sure that they just expected you to turn up, once you'd been told when your daughter could start. All units are run by volunteers and so admin is kept to the minimum - if you'd been told when there was a place, there wouldn't have been a second call/letter to say the same thing.

Is your unit oversubscribed (I guess it is as you seem to have had to wait for a place)? As you haven't shown up and haven't got in touch, there's a risk that if you don't do it soon, the place will be given to another girl for September.

Get in touch now with the unit. There are probably three or four sessions before the end of term, so your daughter can get to know the other Rainbows - and maybe there are holiday activities which you'll hear about.

Hope your daughter will have a fantastic time at Rainbows!
