So with the big reveal of the 50th anniversary programme it feels like a good time to start the 2026 chat!

Today’s the day NYMT’ers!! We are currently loving that the change of rehearsal venue to the West Country makes the journey a lot easier to manage for us this year. Safe travels everyone - and have a great week

For us the journey is more difficult. However it’s a lovely day for it and hope everyone has a great time!

Just wanted to check in now that our first NYMT experience is over.

Despite some rocky moments at the start of the week, my daughter had the BEST time as part of the Unbound crew and so I wanted to say thank you to any DC represented here for being so supportive, especially towards the younger ones.

I’ll be back here again next year, I’m sure, so thanks for being such a helpful bunch of MT parents and all good wishes to all the DC whose NYMT year continues xx

Hope everyone who has been at NYMT for residentials of any kind this week had a great time. @Mari2026 Really glad to hear your DD ended up enjoying it. I do think NYMT creates such a lovely and supportive atmosphere on every project.

My dd has been inconsolable since we left! I know this is fairly standard for an NYMT experience. They become so close so quickly, sharing such a unique experience together. I join you in thanking the older company members - my dd was the youngest this year, which made for a very different experience from last, but all in good ways by the sounds of it with how supportive everyone was and what there was to learn from others. Also massive thank you to your dd - firm friends throughout and I very much hope they stay in touch! Xxx

Did you find anyone from Paper Stars? Sorry, I've been away from this thread for a while! My DD is doing Paper Stars and there's an active group (I think on WhatsApp) of other performers x

My DD just got into NYT!! She’s very excited but unfortunately her membership course is on Saturdays over zoom and she’ll be starting Junior Guildhall (on Saturdays this year). We just filled out a form to request a date change. Do they often allow this or could her place be deferred to next year. Or will she just have to re-audition next year??

Congratulations! Our daughter was successful in getting into NYT she is elated. However her offer is a Bristol residential the second week clashes with her NMW. Agh! A good problem to have.

Have you heard anything else? I thought we'd have had an email by yesterday.

No, not yet. I sent an email late yesterday asking if there was any further update. Fingers crossed we'll hear back sometime today.

Just a BYMT update of the Cottingley Fairies production that my DD has been engaged in over the past few weeks in Birmingham. She had an absolute ball and is very sad to be home now, lol. The production was intense - 12hr rehearsal days for 2 weeks before opening last weekend, so tiring but rewarding she says. She learnt so much and made fantastic friends - a really lovely and inclusive cast and production team. And the show was so good! Excellent story and script, catchy score and amazing choreo. I personally am still singing the songs and thinking of the choreography after seeing it (twice!)! I hope everyone else's young people have equally amazing experiences as the season progresses.

Hi All - wondering if anyones kids have ever done the Guildhall Acting Summer Course for ages 12-15? considering it for my DD who is 15 and would like to do some acting specific training. She's doing NYMT skills course in early Aug, so am conscious also of the costs in doing that and also the Guildhall but willing to consider if the Guildhall one is well regarded. Would appreciate any insights :-)
