Glad everyone has had a good experience at the recalls. Think it’s going to be a tense few days. Results normally in the week after- hopefully by Thursday but can vary.

Authenticallyme1010 · 22/02/2026 17:46

Last year the results of the auditions were emailed later in the afternoon on the 3rd day after the last audition day. Just checked, last audition day was a Tuesday in the half-term and the emails came through Friday later afternoon. It may be longer if more yp have auditioned this year?

Hi, Just popped on to say thanks for all the info on this thread. Loved reading through it all. First year of NYMT auditions and had a recall for WSS. So many very talented kids in the room. We loved every minute of the process and found the team really wonderful. I hope they all do really well. If it helps, when asked how it went mine also said, 'yeah, it was fine'. Haha. Followed by, 'the standard of talent in the room was just insane'. Imagine every session was similar so congratulations to all. Quick question - so we can make a quick decision - can anyone tell me about the skills course. Is it mixed ages or do they group them and how is the week structured? TIA!

@OverthinkingTaxi My DD did the skills course last Easter - here is what they sent in advance about how the days were structured. I will check with DD about the age grouping! I posted a bit earlier on this thread in a bit more detail about how DD found it (summary: she loved it!)

Ooh lovely thanks for the info. Can't wait to hear what everyone got. We will have a pre-chat about it so I can sort if the offer comes in school hours.
Is it always Easter or are some skills courses Summer?

anyonefancythetheatre · 22/02/2026 20:29

Reading this thread has made me wise my DD auditioned for NYMT as well as BYMT. it sounds like such a lovely audition process.

NCMO2G · 22/02/2026 21:09

Thanks@Biscuitsneeded I wasn’t sure if it would be ok to email them this week whilst they are so busy with casting. I didn’t want to bother them - but as you say it’s probably better to pre empt being offered something that might clash.

nogoingbacktothefuture · 22/02/2026 21:21

My YP also had their callback today for Everyday. Was meant to have Ragged Child too, but we pulled out due to dates.
They said it went ok, but like others said the 2 hours was a bit rushed and didn't really have time to do the acting properly, which was disappointing as they are an actor-singer and can't dance, so didn't get to really show their acting ability. They did really enjoy it and also said the talent in the room was insane, so was pleased and proud to get this far. They feel that a show offer is unlikely due to fluffing one note and the dancing was really fast and hard, but the song they danced to was a 'banger'! So great experience and well done to NYMT for making it so welcoming

Re the age group thing on the skills course - DD says she was in a group of 11-14s or maybe 15s (she was 13 at the time). The older ones were on the same site, eating in the canteen etc, but doing different sessions and socialising separately.

Everyday casting complete!! They put up a post yesterday! Would be great to hear soon 💕 (no nails left)

Mumster40 · 23/02/2026 11:15

Yes! I saw that..! Maybe they just meant that the casting auditions were done…. Here’s hoping for a quick response this year x

HanD31 · 23/02/2026 11:28

Just so complete too! I need a project to distract me!

Saw the Every Day post but not the Just So one.... where did you see it please?

Why does Wednesday feel like a month away?

Just my opinion - I am thinking that the directors may have their selections (and reserves) picked, but I can't see how casting can be absolutely finalised until all of the projects have provisional casts due to the overlap of some people being in for two shows and possibly being picked by two directors.

It is entirely possible that all the creatives from all shows met last night to discuss if there was any overlap in their casting choices but is that is the case then it means it really is all done already. Yikes.

The director from just so posted on her story and NYMT shared on story

Wigeon · 23/02/2026 12:08

Pretty sure the two creatives who posted (and NYMT insta account re-posted their posts) just meant that the casting workshops were done, not that they'd finalised the actual casting, because they posted yesterday evening, ie just after the final workshops.

I agree @Wigeon I think there is quite a lot to balance out across all shows and NMW to reach a complete casting, but who knows, my heart definitely skipped a beat when I saw these posts this morning.
Hope everyone came out happy from the weekend auditions. Not long now!😆

There will be skills courses in summer too. If your DC is offered a course they will probably give a range of dates for you to choose from. Remind me what your DC was recalled for?

I also agree. I think they just meant they had completed their last recall session. There will need to be conversations within creative teams for the individual projects, but also across the teams to make sure there are no clashes, and then I'm sure the core team need an overview too in order to decide how best to place everybody. I think, from experience, you don't need to get psyched up just yet. Later this week would be my best bet.

Biscuitsneeded · 23/02/2026 15:35

But I'm sending you all the best biscuits in the meantime! I'm really sad my DS can't be in a show this year but I don't envy you the trepidation of the next few days.

Thanks to all who have replied on the courses - super helpful and means we can make a quick decision.
Recalled for WSS only.

Don't forget if your DC doesn't get WSS there's also the possibility they may be offered a workshop. Sorry if you already know that but I wanted to make sure that was clear!

OverthinkingTaxi · 23/02/2026 19:48

Oh, that's interesting. I assumed as we weren't seen for one in second stage that that was off the table. One of the people they befriended in the first round was called for a NMW.

As I understand it, the new musical workshops are likely to be cast from the DC who attended the specific new musical workshop recalls AND from those who were recalled for a show (or shows) but ultimately not placed. So your DC could get WSS, or a workshop offer, or a skills course.

It’s been so helpful reading this thread and as I’ve just been lurking I thought I would finally post. My ds was recalled for a couple of shows and, like everyone, is really hoping to be cast. He was feeling a bit sad that he only got to show one side of his acting and singing as it was either pick the serious piece or comedy not both. Do they cast the shows and let everyone know their role before they start or are they cast when they begin rehearsals? And is it the same with the NMW or are they a bit more relaxed? Thanks so much to those with experience for being on this chat

With the shows they are given their part when initially cast, so you may get an email saying they've been cast as X role in Y show, or ensemble in Z show. The NMWs are different - they tend to play around and experiment a lot more, for example they might have multiple people doing a particular role to see if it works best with a particular age or gender etc, so you wouldn't get told a particular role with those.
