Hello. Been lurking for a while. Well done to all your children for auditioning this year.
My YP auditioned for NYMT (for the first time) on Sunday and has been offered recalls for Ragged Child and Everyday. We just applied for the experience so were shocked to get recalls. Unfortunately, I don't think I was concentrating when I filled in availability (probably as I assumed YP wouldn't get through to the next stage) and we definitely can't do Ragged Child's dates. Everyday also clashes with GCSE results day and also preferred National Youth Choir course, but we could maybe change the NYC course. However, what are the arrangements for GCSE day while on a NYMT? NYC can grant time off, but I am assuming NYMT can't due to the rehearsal process.
Appreciate that YP might not get anything from the recalls, but this is frying my brain!
I will tell NYMT that Ragged Child is a no go, but should we still go to the recall for Everyday given the uncertainty? Or should we ask if it's possible to be considered for workshops instead?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Also, those of you who's DC's have been recalled for WSS- are they really strong dancers? I am assuming they are!

Comefromaway · 11/02/2026 16:15

NYMT are aware of exam results days. Several participants received their A level results whilst my son was on the residential. I think they had arranged to receive the results by email or via a parent. I assume that if anyone had needed to do anything with regards to ucas in the case of results not being as expected then provision would have been made.

jennymac31 · 11/02/2026 17:07

I'm so glad I found this thread! DD has done the BYMT audition for the first time this year and my DH is getting itchy fingers to book our holidays. It's reassuring to hear that others are patiently waiting to hear back from BYMT.

Mcmumager · 11/02/2026 17:17

My ds received his A level results whilst on NYMT. They will check who is expecting results and give them the time away to take calls, emails etc and obviously support them if needed.

Congratulations to your YP on the recalls! Great news.

I can fully understand you wouldn't want your YP to do Ragged Child rehearsals in half term, in the midst of GCSE exams. Just let NYMT know you don't want YP to attend that recall.
For summer projects, there will probably be a few company members in every show receiving A level or GCSE results. NYMT can usually allow them to disappear to a quiet place for a while to read an email or log into to UCAS, speak to parents or whatever. The pastoral team are lovely and would be very supportive. However, GCSE results day is also opening night for Everyday so I don't think they could accommodate YP travelling back home to receive results in person at school. Could you talk to school and arrange for results to be sent electronically, or collected by you? And if you have to do an immediate registration for a 6th form in person, perhaps you being a proxy could be arranged with the intended 6th form in advance, given that Everyday would be a hugely educational and beneficial experience? Seems a shame to give up the chance of recalling.
Alternatively, if dates really don't work but YP would be keen to do a workshop, you could ask if they can transfer to a new musical workshop recall, and supply your YP's availability so that they can place them in a project that might work, if successful.

My DC received his GCSE results via email whilst on his second production week. The pastoral care team were amazing, set aside a quiet space etc. I recall there were a few DC’s that got their results the same day. They are very much geared up to support these scenarios.

Just received a second-stage offer option for my DD from BYMT. She's just turned 11 and will be delighted with this as it's our first time trying for NYMT and BYMT (she was equally thrilled with the skills course from NYMT :-) ). From what I've read on the thread it seems there's still a decent shot she could get a second-stage offer so we'll sign up for BYMT residential for now as it's transferrable.

We had such a great time with it and will definitely sign up next year. I think part of our issue this year is we signed up quite late and already had holidays booked so are only available in August. Next year we will hold off booking holidays so her availability doesn't impact casting (not sure if that was the case this year but who knows!).

Good luck to all and fingers crossed for mid-March second-stage offer!

We've just had a second stage offer too for BYMT and it stated DD will find out mid-March if considered for a show.

I'd also booked a holiday at the end of August so DD wouldn't be able to perform in 2 shows. We are booking the Easter Camp so if your DD is going, we'll see you there :)

idriveaVauxhallZafira · 12/02/2026 13:04

@ThisKookyFinch well done to DD!!! We are away all of Easter and most of July so I was looking at the London residential camp in August.

Next year I'll wait to book holidays as I think she'll want to prioritise these auditions. It's been a full-on year for her with 11+ exams and her big reward is a 3-week holiday over Easter. :-)

MxPickles · 12/02/2026 13:13

Wow well that came a bit quicker than expcted - BYMT are you stalking this thread eyes room suspiciously

Our BYMT offer is for Clockmakers City and we couldn't be happier!

Can I just take a moment to say that the BYMT process is much longer than the NYMT one and it can take a while for offers to be released. Again I will say this for people who visiting for the first time that this is our fourth audition cycle and we have had all sorts of offers and results over the years, starting with a camp , then a show the next year, followed by an agonising waitlist last year (which did eventually result in a show) then an offer again this year.

Point is things change really quickly with BYMT, but it is a longer process so stick with it!

Someone mentioned about doing a camp and transferring to a show if a space becomes available - the camps are really great - especially for KS3 as an introduction to a week residential and how intensive it can be. I strongly strongly recommend as my DD's first experience was through a BYMT camp and it built so much confidence.

Good Luck to all opening their results emails today.

jennymac31 · 12/02/2026 13:41

Our DD also received a second-stage offer option from BYMT. We're beyond delighted with this as it's our first time trying for BYMT :-). However, not sure my nerves will cope having to now wait until mid March to get an update.

Am still in two minds as to whether or not we should sign her up for the one of the development camps. Will ask DD if she wants to attend once she's back from school.

Hi it's my daughters first time auditioning this year she did both NYMT and BYMT and has a callback this Sunday for NYMT new musical workshops and has also today recieved an offer for a show with BYMT, She is 13, it says we have to accept by the 27th Feb, for BYMT, does anyone know with NYMT how long after the casting workshop they will let us know?

DMEAmum · 12/02/2026 17:11

From memory, I think NYMT casting results usually drop in around Thurs of the week after the final casting recalls. So with recalls on 15/21/22 Feb this year, my guess is going to be 26 Feb for outcomes. 🙏😰

There are casting recalls on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd Feb so 26th Feb is probably a bit optimistic !

It seems crazy that they can do it that quickly, but that's been the sort of turnaround time for the past few years. In fact, I just looked back at previous emails, and in 2024 the emails were sent on the Weds after the final recall session - so that would work out as Weds 25th Feb this year?! I can't get my head around how they put the castings all together with so much to juggle, but they clearly have had a very efficient process ! Fingers crossed that it works so quickly this year too...

It's certainly possible. It is often only a matter of days! They do need to cast pretty quickly, to start confirming with selected YPs and arranging accommodation etc, because only when they know exactly who is in each company, and what age and gender etc, can they start working out who can share with whom - and once they send out casting emails it is then only about 5-6 weeks until Easter residential! Not to mention Ragged Child in July meaning they will need measurements etc to costume them all at Easter. So fingers crossed you will all have your outcomes by the end of Feb.

I'd say there's a good chance you may be lucky and have NYMT news by 27th. If not, it will be a matter of days. Could you reply to BYMT and say you want to accept but you are just seeing whether you can raise the funds before committing? I mean, you might decide you'd rather have a BYMT show than an NYMT workshop anyway, but it seems fairer on you to be able to compare both offers before deciding. And I suppose if finances and dates permit, you could do both! If that's an option and you have your BYMT dates already, you could drop a line to NYMT to say when your DD definitely won't be available, and then if they want to offer her a workshop maybe they can give her one that works for you.

Hi, is any one still waiting to hear from BYMT? We did it for the first time with a later audition at the end of January but haven’t heard anything yet? Or does not hearing mean it’s a no this year? They absolutely loved the BYMT audition so we’re quite keen. Having done NYMT last year for New Musicals (which was incredible apparently) it was nice to try something different. We also have a recall for NYMT New Musicals Workshop this year (sadly another production meant we couldn’t do any April dates so we’re out of the running for any show this year, if they would have been recalled, which is a shame).

Bubj · 12/02/2026 20:14

Hi.

  • Has anyone been offered a BYMT Development camp today?
Thanks x

Hi.

  • Has anyone been offered a BYMT Development camp today?

With BYMT you dont have to recieve an offer to take part in a new musical or skills camp. Camps are independent of the audition process and you can sign up for one at any time. You can pick whichever date and location interests you and book on via the website.

If you do get a production offer after signing up for a camp don't worry they will just move your booking across.

In theory everyone should have received audition outcomes today. Any missing emails are likely due to overenthusiastic spam filters rather than it having any deep significance about the type of offer the email contains! EDIT TO ADD: This has been the case in previous years - everyones email goes out at the same time. Only exception is people who did online auditions back in November sometimes get called in early for the Easter Show. It may be different this year and they are doing offers then waitlist but there seems to have been a mix of outcomes released which suggests that most emails have been sent. Only thing I can think of is perhaps last weekends auditionees haven't been processed yet?!

Sorry if that doesn't sound particularly helpful at this time as I know its agony waiting when it seems everyone else has an outcome, but the team are very responsive and I am sure if you message them you will get a personal response with an update. Keeping everything crossed for you and let us know how you et on :)

EweCee · 12/02/2026 20:51

Thanks @MxPickles - I’ll sit on my hands for another day! and then might drop them an email if we haven’t heard anything.

It’s a roller coaster - how do others manage the ‘bird in the hand’ approach? I.e. audition for a few things and some come through but by doing so, they then exclude other options down the line? My 13yo is struggling with this at the moment and I just say they can’t NOT audition for things in the hope that in 6 months something else MIGHT play out 🤷🏼‍♀️ we gambled this year trying to widen experience because of the difficult 13-16 age range but it’s proving tricky!

I feel this as my DD is also in the twighlight casting zone, and we have had all sorts of outcomes over the years. The BYMT casting process can be hard for some people as it is longer, but that does mean its not a binary yes/no and more offers may well be released over the coming weeks.

Some people decide not to wait it out and go ahead and make other plans for the summer, some people stick with it and see where it leads.

I know its easier said than done (and I've been there) but just trying not to overthink it is probably the best approach. I absolutely overthing everything though so must confess I have never been particularly successful at patiently waiting. Really hope you get the news you are hoping for soon :)
