Hi, my 13 year old wishes to become more fluent in French over the summer holidays. What suggestions are out there for him to continue? Too young to send abroad on his own!

Immersion really is the best way to learn the language. As he’s too young to go to France he could try doing other things in French such as watching Netflix. There is also some language websites that have 1:1 classes at reasonable prices he could do that to practice speaking.

My parents got us all pen-enemies when we were about 11/12, we wrote letters to each other and then did 2/3 week holiday exchanges from age of 12 where we stayed with each others family.

I had some very nice full immersion holidays - and spoke pretty fluent French by the time I was 14 as a result.

I speak 4 languages, 2 to mother tongue standard, and my French is now a bit ropey because I don't use it, and full immersion is the best and easiest way to do it.
