"iRock"- any good?

DD has pestered us for lessons, usually after the school's iRock end-of-term concerts (I'd imagine they're a hyped-up recruitment opportunity for the band leader).

It's £41 a month for weekly 1/2hr group band lessons and I'm on the verge of giving in and letting her do it but thought I'd ask here first, if anyone has any experience of their DCs doing it?

Depends how big the group is, but £10.25 per for 30 min lesson is fairly cheap for music lessons.

I'm not sure.. they don't seem to teach the instruments properly Eg. I'm under the impression the children are shown what to do by rote, short/simple repetitive patterns, then play that for the whole term.

It comes across as just a supervised jamming session/messing about/noise but maybe they teach the fundamentals of music too(?).

I'd love to hear people's experiences.
