Buying a cello case.

Hi,
I wonder if any of you have any recommendations/advice re hard cello cases with rucksack straps.
DC will need a protective 4/4 cello case with a comfortable rucksack setup. Think 30 minute walks and cycles. Cello bags worked well at child sizes but aren't suitable now.
So far, I know the case needs to be well padded and rigid, but that's about it. Are the straps that come with Hidersine (or any other) cases comfortable? Do any of them work well for this type of journey? Am I better to buy a rucksack kit to add to a non-rucksack case? Etc, etc. I really have no clue about this. Any advice appreciated, or opinions on how yours have worked for you.
Thanks

Where are you based? We got ours from Cardiff Violins, they have a good selection in stock usually. Best thing is to go and look/try...

We just went to caswell strings to get a violin case. They do mail order and give good advice over the phone if you can't get there in person.

We have two Gewa Air violin cases. They come with rucksack straps and combination locks which give the reassurance that (if DC remembers to use them!) the case can’t come open accidentally.

Not the cheapest but I would highly recommend. Have seen lots of music students with the cello version.

Thanks - I'll have a look. The "not bursting open" is a good point.

bristol-violin-shop.co.uk

we got ours from here, they always look after us and we got a good discount as the key was missing

I would definitely recommend speaking to Caswells or a visit if you can - although they only open Monday-Friday.
We went last week and they are so knowledgeable and it is good to see the cases in real life

Thanks, I'll do that. I've bought mail order from them a few times before but hadn't appreciated they could give advice over the phone.
