Ballet leotard question

My 4yo dd is moving to a new ballet school with a stricter uniform. She wears size 5-6 clothes and is tall for her age.
She needs a 1st position leotard. Would I be better off buying size 0 or size 1? Thanks in advance.

I think you might find a Size 1 rather baggy. I'd say they were approx age 6-8 clothes wise. Do they have any sample sizes you can try on?

Oh really, ok, I don't want her to be the kid with the baggy leotard!

1st position are not the greatest in terms of fit I'll have to be honest. She is in between sizes by the sound of it but they are very stretchy.

You’d probably be ok in a size 0. My very tall 6yo is still just about about in her size 1.

Our dance school has lots of uniform in stock for the kids to try on. I'm sure other schools are similar. Maybe send her in her old uniform (as long as it is not super branded!) and ask if she can try on a leotard before or after the class. I'm sure lots of the kids will have grown over the summer and will need kitting out. I think DD has a shiny 1st position leotard for tap and modern and they are very stretchy.

My 5 year old daughter is in 5-6 clothes and wears size 0 leotard so sounds like it will be perfect for your dd
