Debating society for children?

Can anyone recommend a good junior debating society?

In the last year my DD(11)'s pronunciation has slipped from quiet but distinct to terrible mumbling. She is doing well academically in a selective prep school but her teachers' feedback consistently flags lack of confidence as the main development area. I think there is a link between the two.

Years ago she did Stagecoach which was ok but did nothing to her elocution or confidence. She has speech and drama at school which is quite good but not enough to impact how she talks in everyday life. I think she might enjoy being in a debating society and would welcome recommendations of such societies for her age group. The only one I've found is The Junior LAwyers' Club, happy to consider it but would also like to review other options. We are in London, I'd be interested both in online and live sessions. Thank you

Did you post this recently ?

If not, then do an advance search as I've read this recently, and maybe you could get together with the other poster and arrange something.

Yes I did post in the Preteen topic, alas with zero responses hence another attempt here.

Does the school not offer debate? My daughters both love Debatemate which they do at school. I think unless you're a state school with above-average free school meals the school pays for the programme, but it is still available (and excellent) to all schools. Might be worth asking them if they'd consider it - I've had a look for you but it seems very hard to find anything similar out of school.

Lamda qualifications (also offered to them in school, but I know also offered privately and by most preps) have also done wonders for my younger daughter.

Hope you find something. Debate has been transformative for my older daughter - though she is MUCH older (year 10). She has done it since she was 12, and it has made her so confident.

Ask the school if they do a debating team or club, some do.
