How much to worry about the odd pulled muscle

My son (16) plays a lot of racket sports. He's not at a particularly high level but he does play several hours a week. He gets the odd pulled muscle and (not being remotely sporty myself) I don't know whether this is something to worry about? At the moment I stick a bit of deep heat on it and give him some ibuprofen and if it doesn't go after a few days then I would take him to minor injuries. But should I be taking him to a sports physio or similar? I'd like him to look after himself as he becomes an adult but I don't really know what an appropriate level of intervention is.

Hi @riverpebbles
Is the injury in the same area every time? If so, then your dc probably does need to see a specialist physio who understands that particular sport and can check that there isn't an underlying problem (either with physique or technique) that's causing it. They would also be able to advise on rest & recovery, and give remedial exercises if necessary.
