Please could you recommend your favourite folk songs which would work for ABRSM grade 5? Thanks in advance.

Singing I assume. The unacompanied folk song requirement.

Yes singing please. I have bought a couple of the recommended folk song books but don't know the songs

I know a fair bit about folk song and performance, but nothing about your question.
Are you looking for songs to sing? Traditional or modern? Irish, English or Scottish? What are you, soprano, alto tenor, bass? Do you want versions you can listen to?

So some of the criteria are a well-chosen comfortable key for the candidate’s voice, and good expression/communication of the meaning.
Even more important that you give more detail.
