My DD has her grade 2 exam today. She felt it went well BUT she's absolutely devastated because she didn't announce the scene/character for each piece. She was a bit thrown as the examiner didn't ask her for it like they did last time.

She's been crying all the way back from the exam. I've tried consoling her but nothing is working - she's beating herself up about it, bless her.

Will this make a difference to the overall mark awarded? If so, how much? She's even convinced herself she's going to fail Sad

They will probably comment but I’ve had a few students forget (despite getting them to practise their intro every single time) and they’ve all passed.

I’ve not known an examiner ask for an intro though. It’s just expected.

@Comefromaway - she understands it's expected but because the introduction was quite different from her last exam, plus the fact she's not on top form today, she just didn't do it (as you say, she practises it and includes it every time - hence why she's so gutted on this occasion).

I think she probably did really well in the actual pieces and also the knowledge questions - her teacher was very happy with the place she was in before the exam. I guess it would just be useful to have an indication of by how much this on its own can affect the outcome, if other than that she did well?

Experience LAMDA daughter ( does acting and musical theatre) thinks she will probably lose a couple of marks.
In higher grades you are expected to give much more detail ( writer, context etc.) so it is worth practicing before hand.

Have a look at their website under syllabus exam section and there is a chart that shows expectations for each grade. It really won’t make much difference so tell her to forget about it and focus on Grade 3 now.
