Junior guildhall audition

Dear mums,

DD has been learning violin for just over half a year and is going to audition the guildhall junior string programme in 2 weeks time. However we have not received any information about when to submit the pieces and scales, when to have rehearsal time with the piano accompanist etc. Totally confused about how the whole process works. Does anyone have any prior experiences?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi! We are on the music programme, not STP. GH is awesome. However, their organisation/communication is not!!! For the music programme, everything happens on the day. The piano rehearsal is just before the audition. Take a copy of the music with you just in case, but I'm not sure they even need it. You don't need to pre-submit anything. Get there in plenty of time to relax and be in good time for the rehearsal. Once you are there, all will be well organised on the day - just don't expect much before then!

The audition went well. As you suggested, it was very well organised on the day but nothing before that... The piano accompanist was very nice and patient. I think dd had a positive experience. Not sure when we will get the result though. Do you have any idea?

Is there anyone waiting to hear from Junior Guildhall? We had our audition 2 weeks ago but still haven't heard from them. We need to tell our current school about next term's instrument lessons this week so really keen to find out in order to make plans. Apparently they never reply emails and calls were redirected to voicemail...
