Grade One Flute

Dds music teacher told her that it's very rare to get distinction in either Grade one or Grade eight, is this true?

No, it's more usual to see distinctions in the lower grades, and then again at Grade 8, when I think people will deliberately put off entering until they will get a good mark. Abrsm publish (or used to) the stats for each grade, and I went through and calculated the percentages for myself a couple of times. Will try to find a link if you're interested.

Having said that, success starts at the pass mark, and most candidates do in fact pass.
