Are there swimming squads or clubs that prepare kids to take up swimming competitively in north-west london? Quite keen for my lo to get into a disciplined programme which will help her focus on swimming as a competitive sport. I also wanted to know if there are any diving classes starting at age 5 in north-west London? Thanks.

HI, I don't live in your part of London, but there are many clubs that have squads for competitive swimmers. Diving less so, due to not all clubs having access to diving pools in the region. I've attached a link for you copy, that takes you to the ASA website where you can manipulate the data to give you a bit more info for your research on the swimming front. Clubs in your region (such as Camden Swiss, Barnet Copthall, Enfield Sq, Haringey etc) may fall into Middlesex County, but if you also search on Hertfordshire they'll be some Nth Londonish clubs that fall into that county for competition purposes.

You can then drill into clubs to see how many swimmers they have by age range, how competitive they are vs other clubs etc etc before going onto shortlist websites to see what their assessment process is.

Hope this helps.

Most competitive programmes don't start until about age 8 so until then the focus should be on building stroke technique and genseral fitness across a range of sports.
