Just wondered if anyone's dc had auditioned for any associate schemes? Dd is 8 and auditioned for York Dance Scholars last weekend. It's the first time she's tried to get a place on any scheme. The wait for news is killing me!

I'd forgotten about York Dance Scholars. Good luck to her.

We plan to let Dd (also 8) audition for RBS JAs, Elmhurst and Northern Ballet Associates next year.

My dd is an Elmhurst associate and is starting Ballet West associates in September. My ds was also an Elmhurst associate. The waiting is one of the frustrating things about vocational ballet, good luck! York Scholars is a lovely scheme.

WishItook - I've been looking up the York scheme, it used to be mostly ballet I think. Now incorporates musical theatre and jazz. Also it says no scheduled auditions this year, but joining the non syllabus class to audition?

I'm not sure my child would like the musical theatre section in the new format at York Scholars. Hmm, I wonder if the audition will assess ability in modern jazz and musical theatre also. The former she would be fine with, not so much the latter.

We're also waiting to see if EYB (English Youth Ballet, you probably know of them) will be holding auditions vaguely locally to us this year.

They scheduled auditions in the end ortensia. dd's was last weekend and it was just ballet. Dd won't be 8 til the end of august and said she really enjoyed it but it was tough. She has very limited turn out so I'm sure the answer is a no but her teacher encouraged her to try as she dances with all of her heart and has such lovely musicality.
Hoping those trying out for any scheme are successful
