Hi, My Dd is currently doing ABRSM voice exams, currently grade 4, we are thinking of switching to Rockscool for her next exam but wanted to know if that's a good idea or not. She does like to look of the Rockschool songs. Any advice welcome.... thanks

Depends what sort of singing she enjoys, I suppose ... how old is she? What does she want to do with it?

She is 14 years old and is looking to take her music to degree level. I just wanted to know if Rockschool is as respected as Abrsm. The songs in the Rockschool syllabus are more her thing than the English folk songs she has been learning for Abrsm.

ABRSM are very old fashioned in a lot of ways.

Rockschool are on the QCF the same as the other boards.

Dh teaches at degree level & takes no account of any exam board. His college/uni goes entirely on audition

Hello OP.

My dd is studying ABRSM singing and wouldn't look at Rockschool and neither would her school as they will only do ABRSM.

I think this board does cover a whole range of styles, but the emphasis is more of a classical training, although many other genres are included.

She needs to choose the board that her future College will require or
gravitate towards.
E.g a classical/ opera/ folk/ course would really need ABRSM but the colleges with courses in MT singing or pop would be better suited to Rockschool or Trinity maybe?

I agree with Alexander They are all accepted as the same level, but disagree to a certain extent as some colleges are particular which board has been followed.
It depends on where she wants to audition, their requirements and the style she wants to pursue.
