Ballroom dancing - competitions

My LO, age 7, is about to start competitive ballroom dancing with a very cute little partner.
I'm lost, I've never done this kind of thing. I did lots of ballet as a child but never Ballroom / Latin. Is there anything I should be looking to do to support them. What are the worst things dance Mums can do at these competitions etc.
I can't even find rules for these competitions to have an idea of what the judges are looking for. I can only find Ballet Forums and nothing related to this online.
Any suggestions / help would be gratefully appreciated.

You can tell I'm a complete newbee at all this.... way out of my own experience but feels it's important for kids to try out and enjoys stuff I don't necessarily enjoy... find their own way as such and try to support where possible.
