Tap starting a grade three

As the title says, can someone who has never tap danced before start at grade 3?

How old?

Yes, depending on their age, and previous dance experience. I started as an adult and went into Grade 4.

Yes, I did last year (in my late 40s).

Age 12 also does ballet

Grade 3 probably about right then, otherwise they'd be stuck with younger kids in the lower grades. My dd's friend (who did ballet and modern) started tap about age 15 and went into grade 5.

Yes my DD started in Grade 3 ISTD tap. She had done other forms of dance for years. Took it up aged 16 and passed in 10 months. Her school have lower grade classes for older girls and fast track them through.
