Skiing trips

Can I ask if your secondary schools do a skiing trip - how much? How long? And where to? Dd school is about £1200 and they go to USA. Personally I think that is way over the top and out of my price rangeHmm

My DD is going skiing next March. She is going to Switzerland for a week and we have paid 1600.

Nearly £900 to France for one week (I think) - but trip isn't running next year so DC can't go. I think it might be an alternate year thing.

I agree there is no need to go to the USA. If the school want kids to experience skiiing, there are a lot of cheaper, near destinations, but if you really want to ski in the USA, £1200 doesn't sound wildly expensive.

Why is it soooo expensive?

Erm.....travel, ski pass, accommodation, insurance....how much would you expect it to be?

Just paid an instalment today- think it's £900 in total. Italy/coach

I think it's absurd they fly to USA when there's all that skiing in Europe...

DozeyTwonk · 14/07/2015 23:42

I would have thought between £500-700 but that's based on what we could afford rather than anything else. She certainly won't be going to USA. We've got friends in Grenoble so will go as a family. Shame tho as I wanted her to do a school trip.

DS's school does to USA each year at a cost of £1500-1600. We have told DS (a good skier) that he won't be going unless they have one to Europe. With the travel time and a stopover on the way, they only get 5 days on the slopes. I cannot see any advantage over going to Europe. DS is going on an educational trip to Italy, which is £800 for 6 days so I would expect a week's skiing in Europe to be about £1000 (perhaps less by coach).

I think it's about £900 here. Italy and coach. DS2 is currently on a school trip to the same region (not for skiing obviously) and it has cost £650.
