Can anyone suggest good monologues for a 9yr old girl to prepare for an audition? 1 minute that show a good range of emotions?
many thanks

When I was that age I did a couple from the Secret Garden (where she tells Colin off) and from A Little Princess.

DD2(10) is doing Piggy Princess, from the play Flowers in the Desert. (This can be found online)

DD1(12) also did the scene from Secret Garden, where Mary tells Colin off. This year she is doing a scene from the beginning of Vanity Fair, where Becky and Amelia are travelling to Amelia's house, after leaving the school.

Have you tried Googling Monologues for girls?

Anne Fine's "Diary or a Killer Cat" is hilarious, and the story is told by the cat, with parents and children as 'supporting actors'. There is a 'death scene', so if you select the right bits it can cover everything:

I did one from Alice in Wonderland at around that she- where she talks to the Cheshire Cat. That had being puzzled, incredulous, frustrated, a bit nervous and lonely...

I think there might also be a pretty good one from George's Marvellous Medicine, although it might be a bit young.
