CCF - any units outside schools?

My DD is very keen to join a CCF group but I have not had any luck finding any units outside particular schools.

Do they even exist or does she need to attend a school which offers one in order to join?

They definitely exist. Does she want to do army navy or RAF? Here's the army link for cadets:

There's loads round here (army area) of all types. Probably depends on your area. RAF you need to be 13yo to join, army, I think the youngest group starts at about 7yo, I think navy is about 10yo.

CCFs are always in schools, however there are other cadet forces outside of school:

ACF - Army Cadet Force
ATC - Air Training Corps
SCC - Sea Cadet Corps

Which one she chooses would depends on her interests. ACF = more outdoors stuff, ATC = planes, SCC = boats.

Thanks for the great advice. I think she is most keen on army cadets!

Near here, there's an Army group that meet on the one night, an air force group that meet on another, and then they meet together on a third night, so I presume they are combined! (Although it commits them to 2 evenings a week).

I agree CCFs are within schools. But there are loads of cadet troops around.

My daughter has been going to air cadets for years. They do loads of stuff, including duke of Edinburgh (which is good as her school did put do it). She is doing her gold next year.

She has been gliding, flying, in a helicopter, plays all sorts of sports, and has been on loads of camps and air shows. She also was granted a gliding scholarship and went solo this summer. It's a great organisation and she loves it.
