Where do you hire musical instruments?

Sorry slightly clueless questions! This year, DD has been learning an instrument through the local Music Service and hiring an instrument from there. However she is moving schools in September, her new school don't use the Music Service for their music tuition, don't provide any options for hiring and the Music Service won't hire instruments to anyone who isn't learning through them.

Not sure I really want to buy an instrument just yet (and no idea how I would do that either!) but not sure where else we could hire one?

Try your local music shop. Ours hires out instruments, and also sells second hand ones. We have just bought a second hand violin for DD, they part exchange for the next size up when she grows too so it actually works out just as cheap to buy as to hire.
