Trinity rock and pop exams

Has anyone had experience of these graded vocal exams and have you any tips please. Would it be possible to do them without a singing teacher but with DH helping who has sung semi pro for years in rock/pop genre (obviously following the syllabus). DD is 14 and I think would enjoy doing the songs on the lists for each grade.

I'm not familiar with this board as my dd does ABRSM. What I would say is lessons are important from the technical aspect, where the voice is placed and the sound etc. I think this is just as important in pop, theatre, folk or classical tbh.
I would also look at the marking criteria and how they are awarded. What is expected and if you think she could manage it without a teacher.

There was a thread a while ago about the developing voice and lessons, although aimed at younger ages, it is still possible to harm the voice.

Thanks for that. Advice from Trinity is that if we make use of the books, CD and their video clips it should be quite possible for DD to home study this with DH. Going to see how it goes. We can't really afford any more paid tutors as DD does a few dance lessons and with that and school trips etc it's enough right now. I do think the website for the rock and pop exams is really good with quite clear advice.

Maybe, if there are a few elements that your dh or dd find particularly difficult you could book a tutor from the music service for a few sessions before the exam. We did this for dd in terms of sight singing. her teacher was great in every other respect but she needed extra help with this.
