Girl Beaver Mums over here!

DD started Beavers in Sept. She is the only girl in her pack/ colony (?)
They are going on a camp in July. Am having a few wobbles. She is v excited about it. I asked the leader (woman) who said the beavers are in tents on their own. My dd could sleep in the same tent as the boys or she could sleep in a tent with girls from other groups, or in her tent (the leaders), whichever we wanted.
Having a real PFB moment and her being able to camp was one of the main reasons she chose beavers rather than brownies.
Not sure which option to go for and have wobbles about all 3 options!
Anyone know what happens at these camps? Would be her first time away from the home other than staying at her grandparents, Thanks

Have Beavers changed then? When I was a leader they only camped at family camps.

I was a leader when mine were beavers (now scouts and explorers)

My DD was a beaver and lived sleepovers etc we could only do 24 hours max and not under canvas but they can now

She'll have a great time - I'd give her the options over which tent - at that age, so long as she is happy I don't think it matters boys or girls tho we always kept them separate as the colony was 50/50

Usually craft, walks, outdoor discovery type activities plus camp fire and singing - you should get back a tired dirty but happy little girl

Thanks people, it is only preliminary expression of interest at the moment so they obviously haven't fully planned it, but they did say 2 nights away, whereas the guidance says 1 night.

Beavers can only go for 24hrs, so to include just 1 night.
The Leader needs to go and do her nights away training by the sounds of things. The one place she definitely can't sleep is in the Leader's tent . I'm very concerned that the Leader has suggested this - has she not done her Safeguarding training ?

Was going to say the above, she can not sleep in the same tent as the leader. I'm sure she would be fine with the boys or girls. Our beavers all sleep in the sme room at sleepover albeit in pop up tents. We say pjs rather than nighties to sleep in and don't worry about stripping off to wash as they are only away for 24 hrs!

I would ask the leader to check the rules.
Definitely, young people cannot share with adults (unless with parents at family camp).
My experience with DD was that if she shared a bunkroom, she was supposed to have a 'privacy screen', although the leader weren't sure what that should entail - rigging up a blanket on a washing line or something! As I was staying over too, I said not to bother, but if the campsite staff had made a spot-check, they could've got into bother about it.

DD's now in Cubs and the girls have their own tent.

Echo what others have said - she should NOT be in a Leaders' tent! Sharing with girls from another colony sounds ideal - she'll make new friends and realise she's not the only one.

Next, get her to bring a friend or two from school to Beavers to get them to join as well .

BTW - Brownies (7-10) can camp for 2 nights. Rainbows (5-6) can't camp but can do one night away indoors.

Dd2's colony has quite a few girls and only does indoor sleepovers.
The last one had all the girls in one room with the female leaders, and the boys were in two rooms with the male leaders and volunteers (including her dad).

I'd get her to share with girls from other colonies, it'd be easier for all the groups and YY to getting her friends to join.

Thanks people, she seems to only be inviting her friends that are boys along. One girl went from her class, but didn't like it.
Will try and get her to work on a few of the other girls!
