Is there a big jump between G2 & G3?

Just that really.

DD (11) tearful this morning as she said she was finding her new tunes difficult.

Or was it just because she's had a few late nights recently and i'd just told her off?

What Instrument?

My DD1 (15) found it a big on piano. Needed a year between G2 & G3, and it's not her first instrument. But a friend of hers a couple of years younger is going straight from G2 o G4 (also not first instrument).

I think it depends on the instrument.

But I would guess that the tiredness and the telling off are key here!

We Alwqys skip practice if they are particularly tired.

Guitar is the instrument. Her forst anyway as plus she plays piano & recorder too.

She has a performance on Monday after which i think we'll have a break from the practice and catch up with some sleep!

I don't make mine practise . She did G2 in year 6 and will be doing G4 this summer (Y8). I haven't pushed it and she chooses to practise when she wants to, which is 3 or 4 times a week usually. She's keeping up with the other girl in her lesson though so i assume the other girl doesn't practise either she's doing ok.

I would think the tiredness and telling off are the real reason for the tears, they would be for my dd.

Ds has just passed grade 2. He is taking a break from grades and doing fun tunes. There is loads of fanastic guitar music out there for all tastes and all levels. Ds is playing tunes out of this book.

Ds is also in an guitar emsemble and learning chords and generally having fun.

I think practice has to be everyday to keep the fingers in trim, however children don't always want to do grade music
