I've been quoted £30 per hour for ds1 and dd to have a class together after school.

Is this a lot or average?

How old are they? It seems quite reasonable to me.

I charge £25 per hour for one-to-one, for GCSE and A level, but I'm undercharging because all my students at the moment are either of several years standing or the children of friends/colleagues. I could ask for £30-35 and still be competitive.

If I had to do two I would probably ask for £30, if they were approximately the same standard and primary or KS3. At KS4 I'd ask for £35.

The agency I'm signed up with gives me £35-40 for one-to-one, so goodness knows how much they are charging parents.

Actually though - where (approx) do you live? I'm in London and tutoring is more expensive here I think, and it varies wildly from area to area.

I live in Herts. They're only 6 and 4 but they went for a trial session and they said they had a lot of fun. Games etc. The teacher told me what he did with them and it all seemed to be very light hearted learning by play.

Hmm, for that young I actually think it's the upper end, I was imagining juniors at least.

It's not like he'll be prepping lots of exercises etc and marking them. But if it doesn't increase for the next couple of years then I'd probably go with it.

Thanks for your advice.

And if the tuition is my two dcs plus two other two children? Is that still a fair price in your opinion?
