Computing tuition?

My DS2 (8) finds many of the extra-curricular activities hard going, since he is not sporty and is quite immature for his age. We have just been asked to remove him from his martial arts class since he is not progressing and is being disruptive. He is very academic however, and really the academic work he does at school is what floats his boat. (The day they were introduced to the decimal point was a great day for him - I had to listen to a fifteen minute lecture about it!)

What he would really like to do as a hobby is learn more about computers - he wants to write computer programs when he grows up. Does anyone have any ideas how we would go about finding some tuition in this area for him? We are in Kent. Thanks for reading!

You could help him make a computer game using Game Maker.......

An excelent idea - also have a look at maths quizzes such and things like project Euler.

IMHO he will learn better programming skills with a non GUI language - I'm a big fan of good old BASIC, but VB is a free download.
