Scout uniform sizes

DD needs a Scout shirt, before next meeting. The smallest one on the web site seems huge. Another site says they are actual garment sizes which is really confusing.
Can anyone with an average 32in or thereabouts 11 year old tell me what size shirt I need, thanks

I have an average sized 10 year old, measured 31. I got the two smallest sizes to try (from the scout shop not the website.). I can't remember if it was XS and S, or XXS and XS, but anyway When he tried them on the smallest just fitted neatly. I went for the second option and it's big enough to last him for a year or two without me having to resew all the badges again.

I hope this helps, I can't check cos the shirt is at grannys.

bought ds1 a scout shirt last week. He's also an averagely sized almost 11yo, got xs, the smallest in the shop, and it's on the big side of fine. His school jumpers are 32" so we are possibly talking similar sized children here :) The "S" was effing enormous and came to his knees, bad mother had the urge to try it on him to see "in case it's not that much too big"

Thanks that's great, sounds like Xs is what I need, despite them saying 37 and 41", which if it was normal sizes would fit me!

well just out of curiosity I tried his scout shirt on (much to his amusement) and it did fit me, I'm size 10
He said I looked a t*t in it and it looks better on him. I have to agree...

My small 10 year old needed the XXS size shirt - we tried the XS and it was massive, even allowing for growing room. They are sized quite big I think. Although he is 10 (will be 11 in December) and is still usually in age 7/8 clothes.

Just checked my DDs shirt - she is a tall but very slim 11.5 year old and has the XS, she has had it for 6 months and there is still plenty of room. (It is still a boys shirt, BTW).

You do want them as big as you can without them looking ridiculous - it's not the cost its sewing on all the badges again!

I checked the label it's an XS.

It depends on which one your buying. My DD 11 next week just got a David Luke one in a S but the scout shop version was an XS which was the same size, it is a bit big but we intend to turn the cuff over on the sleeve and then it looks ok her pack wears them over their tshirt at all times so we needed some wriggle room, she is tall and skinny if that is any help

The web site, but I think she's going to have to try them on. I want as big as possible because Im sure she'll grow a lot in the next couple of years and I hate badge sewing!
