Hi! How do I go about finding a private guitar teacher for my 7 year old ds? Oh, in Wimbledon area...

Classical or "rock god" guitar? 7 is quite young for guitar lessons, but let me know about style (above) and I may be able to point you in the right direction for Londonish teachers.

Classical please. DS is extremely keen and teaching himself from books at the moment.

personal recommendation is always good but if you have asked around and no one knows of a teacher, could you go into a specialist guitar shop and ask there? If you want a local teacher, perhaps advertise locally?

I am not in your area so don't know any, but when we went into our local guitar shop to buy dd a new classical guitar (learning for about 4 years now), the staff in the shop asked if we needed a teacher as they had contacts they could give us. Also there was a notice board at the door with cards in. We were also in another music shop (more sheet music than instruments) and they too had a noticeboard with teacher contacts on it. Probably a good place to start, or look on your local gumtree. DD had to wait until the age of 10 to start lessons on the guitar (schools rules!) even on a 1/2 size instrument.

These are in Wimbledon - I don't think the website says they offer lessons, but I believe they do - if not, I reckon they'll be able to point you in the right direction: www.cherrypiemusic.co.uk/ - can't vouch for them as I've no personal experience there.
