I try and go to the gym 3 times a week

I do a class called body combat - basically an exercise class which is also self defense

and if I am being very good I try and go for a 3 mile walk every other week with my friend - we both push a buggy

I try to go to the gym three times per week. I only have half an hour spare to actually exerccise, so spend it on cardiovascular. Will add 15 minutes of something else, when I get a chance to speak to a personal trainer about it.

pamelat · 03/11/2008 09:02

my bums and tums class is one where I take DD. The only problem with that is that its an hour long class and I bet I only do 40 mins exercise. She is 9 months and there is no way that she is just going to watch me for an hour or play!

Carb wise, I do eat low fat sauces (I don't like cheese or cream, know I am odd - I think with me its the quantity I eat). I am 9 stone 6 lbs but was always 8 stone 11 lbs pre baby

and then you will be in skinny ones

I try to go to the gym three or 4 times every other week (i work nights alternate weeks) and i do 45-60mins cardio with 30mins resistance. Then the weeks that i'm working nights i try to have either a 30 min swim or 30 mins cardio 3 mornings per week.

I'd lost about 6 stone prior to joining a gym and felt the need to both tone up and help the last 2 stone on their way - still working on it.

FrayedKnot · 06/11/2008 16:37

God how do you all have time?

I do a yoga class one night a week and if I get to the gym once it's a good week.

Would like to go to gym 2-3 times ideally.

roobarbschmoobarb · 06/11/2008 16:48

lol by getting up to go at 5.30am when the children are still asleep

FrayedKnot · 06/11/2008 16:52

I can barely talk at 7.30

elsiepiddock · 06/11/2008 16:52

I do - body pump x1
spinning x 2 and I do 1 - 1.5 hours of cardio at the gym about 3 times per week, ie running and cross trainer.

Why am I not reed thin then ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2008 21:04

6 stone! Blimey,well done!

Well my weakness at mums has not made me suffer. In fact, although I am still not able to get out and do my power walking, I have managed to lose another pound or two, so I am impressed! I have been strict with the eating and drinking since I got home though.

5.30 and excercising?
The only excercise I do at that time is lifting the kettle.

I usually get out walking the two mornings that my youngest DS is at preschool, plus one night in the week and one morning at the weekend.

mammyofET · 06/11/2008 22:43

I recently did the Great North Run & trained at 6am 3 times a week. I could do the run again but not the training at 6am. T'was a nightmare.

Now I mange a run once a week and the gym once a week for a general workout (in my lunch hour).

Otherwise I just generally try to keep active - running up and down the stairs, running around the garden etc.

roobarbschmoobarb · 07/11/2008 08:47

I think the desire to get the rest of the weight off must outweigh the desire to stay asleep under my cosy duvet lol. It doesnt win out every morning though

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2008 08:59

im off to the gym in a few mins

if i gonow then i can eat later and not feel guilty

blimey I'm impressed by all these posts (especially the 6 stone - brilliant! and the 5.30 am. though I think that's more a case of befuddled and bemused rather than impressed ). I run and I go in fits and starts. I keep a log and out of interest I just worked out my average over the last year (found a new toy on my log to do this with) and I'm a bit gutted to see that over the whole year I've averaged only 1.1 runs/5 miles a week. although (after some considerable playing with said new toy) I can find a peak period of activity averaging 3 runs/20 miles a week. I'm doing tha marathon next year so need to be a lot more consistent from now on...

roobarbschmoobarb · 07/11/2008 14:58

See the running thing impresses me - i cant run for toffee (though i maybe could for a huge bar of Dairy Milk I've just started to up my power-walking on the treadmill for something vaguely resembling a jog but running outside kills me (on the very few occasions I've tried in recent times)
I feel weirdly self conscious when running on the treadmill, probably through fear that the machine will buckle and start belching out smoke under the pressure from my burgeoning frame lol

mankyscotslass · 07/11/2008 16:15

I can't run or jog at all outside, it kills my knees. So I powerwalk instead, and I can go at a fair old pace. I nearly killed my friend when she came out with me.
Apparently for a short arse I can shift!
I do have to make myself go and do it though, it's still a real effort. At the moment I can't go walking at all, still clogged up with catarrh.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/11/2008 09:08

power walking is meant to be better for you then running - so keep upthe good work!!

at the moment i only really walk, 2-3 miles most week days as i'm trying to stop bf dd2 in the mornings so have to take her out in the buggy to get her to nap. i don't drive so anywhere else i go i walk, often carrying a not-slight 18monther on my back.

if i can claw back any more time for myself i really want to get back to swimming and yoga, espscially now it's winter i could do with the boost. before dd2 i got onto a real exercise kick where i was swimming every week and doing yoga 3 times and i felt fantastic and was in the best shape i've ever been.

i've just remembered i recently made a resolution to do early morning yoga on a weekday but then everyone got ill and it fell by the wayside, but i really should resurrect that, maybe doing it publicly here will spur me on. i'm going swimming for the second time this week today, but taking dd1, so i don't get to actually swim much.

i spent years as an overweight kid/teenager with no physical confidence at all, thinking i hated exercise, it's been a revelation as an adult to find that i really do enjoy it when i can make the time.

puppydavies · 09/11/2008 09:40

heh epic post
