Creatine - anyone take it?

Does anyone take creatine supplements? I’ve been hitting the gym harder than usual in the last few months and a friend recommended taking creatine supplements. If you take them have you noticed much difference? How has it benefited you?

Yes daily. I’ve been taking it for years now though so I can’t really remember the pre creatine days to compare TBH.

I deffo have good recovery time in spite of the dreaded peri and I feel/am pretty strong!

Backawayfromthesausage · Yesterday 08:01

I do, don’t do the gummies. There is nothing in them, use the powder. I noticed a difference very quickly , I’m stronger in the gym, and recover faster.

NewyearNC · Yesterday 08:02

Recently started taking but for cognitive benefits!

Backawayfromthesausage · Yesterday 08:09

Why has my post been hidden on creatine, anyone know? Thays very odd.

NutellaEllaElla · Yesterday 08:12

I started taking it in gummies (which are delicious), when I started working out in January. I don't think I can do a pre/post evaluation on it for that reason. It did make me put on lbs of water weight, and I often have a dry mouth so it's doing something...

NutellaEllaElla · Yesterday 08:12

@Backawayfromthesausage Mine has too! Don't know why.

NutellaEllaElla · Yesterday 08:13

I said I started taking it at the same time as I started strength training at the end of Jan and it's made me put on water weight, and given me a dry mouth. I also said the gummies tasted good.

MagpiePi · Yesterday 08:13

I’ve recently started taking it but mostly for cognitive benefits atm as I’m injured and not weight training so can’t comment on that aspect. I am running more but I don’t know if it is helping there as I’m a crap runner and find it hard however slowly I go.

I did do quite a lot of reading up on creatine for women, particularly for menopausal women and there don’t seem to be any downsides to taking it.

NutellaEllaElla · Yesterday 08:14

Lol, it's hidden again, I give up.

Backawayfromthesausage · Yesterday 08:15

Why would responses on creatine be hidden, does someone maybe not understand creatine, the forms it comes in and is reporting or something?

I want to know what you’ve said now!
Can you paraphrase?

Basically I said I take it, use the powder not the gummies as there is nothing in them and I am stronger in the gym and recover faster.

im guessing this will be hidden too,

I am thinking someone doesn’t know what creatine is 😂

Oh it’s being auto hidden,

How strange!
Is it a trigger word?

I think it’s the form creatine can be taken in, it may have al algorithm to capture anything drug related and be confused,

caringcarer · Yesterday 08:21

My late teen son takes it. He says it helps with recovery times after using the gym so he can go more often.

This is Dr Stacy Sims take on it - she's an expert in womens' exercise performance and has recently focused on activity in menopause.

I take creatine, but am inconsistent about it, which probably negates the benefits. I do weight train.

I REALLY want to get away with it, but the one time I took it I had really broken sleep and incredibly disturbing dreams. Might try again and have it early in the day

A post on an osteoporosis thread where I recommended calcium supplements was hidden too. Most odd.

My dh takes it and swears by it. I think I'll start as I keep reading good things about it.

Yes you’re supposed to take in the morning and before a work out if working out.

Ah, this might be it. I referenced the tasty haribo like format I was taking it in.

FruitFlyPie · Yesterday 08:46

I tried to take it, but in powder form it's hard to actually eat. It dissolves in boiling water, like in a coffee, but according to the internet this negates the benefits. Mixing it in cold water, it doesn't dissolve and its gritty. Some people just eat the powder directly but yikes.

The gummies are mostly fake and have little to no actual creatine in them.

I wouldn’t go off a single incident; it is likely to be coincidence.
