I need a live, online, pay-as-you-go exercise provider

Needs to be live to motivated me and pay as you go as I may not stick at it and go to gym instead. I'd also love for it to be suitable for achey joints/badback/wobbly pelvic floor of an over 40 year old!

I'd be really grateful for any suggestions.

I know they're not online but what about classes?

DiabolicalDee · 11/04/2023 21:33

Good idea but don't have time atm.

Apple fitness

Peloton now do a Peloton app that allows you to access classes in lots of different disciplines. £12.99 a month for unlimited access. (You don't need the bike or treadmill to access these classes.)

I was going to also suggest peloton! I love it I started with app and then finally got bike last September but u don't need to do spin classes as there are so many other types including strength, cardio, yoga and meditation

Fiit app

mynameiscalypso · 11/04/2023 21:38

FIIT have a mix of classes on demand and 'live' classes.

DiabolicalDee · 11/04/2023 21:41

Thanks so much. Are Peleton live too?

OP posts:
DiabolicalDee · 11/04/2023 21:42

Also, is FIIT an app you can also put on laptop? Is it expensiv3? Can't easily see prices.

DiabolicalDee · 11/04/2023 21:43

Sorry, just found prices, in big letters!

Heather Robertson- she’s free and also has a free fb forum

DiabolicalDee · 11/04/2023 21:47

Thanks I'll have a look at Heather's. Les Mills came up when I googles peleton - are they any good?

Yes they have very full schedule of live classes but also on demand classes, they have v large catalogue

Rainbowsandbutterflies1990 · 11/04/2023 22:28

They also have lots of different instructors , all with own style and personality.

hggfff · 11/04/2023 22:37

Les Mills base is a relatively inexpensive option that ticks the basic boxes. It's not live, you can choose from a couple of recordings of each of a lot of different classes and they get refreshed quarterly. Some require weights or exercise band or step but there's enough you can do without.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 11/04/2023 22:38

What type of workouts do you want to do? I really like Les Mills. I like body combat and body balance (hybrid yoga, pilates, tao chi) and occasionally a sh bam dance class. The presenters are 'enthusiastic' but I really enjoy them

MarpleFan · 11/04/2023 22:39

I love P.Volve. It’s specifically centred around women’s health and well-being (with series on pelvic floor strengthening / post-natal workouts / menopause).

They’re based in the US so the live stuff would be later on in the day, but I discovered it during lockdown and am never going back.

It’s gentle on joints, if you go for the slower stuff especially, but it uses muscles I never knew existed.

I love the sound of this. Some exercise classes are quite unhelpful for a pelvic floor, sit ups etc.

I'm a bit hypermobile so I need to start off really slowly or I'll damage something.

It's great - they have a load of specialist equipment, which I invested in after a few months of doing it, but you don't need to have it.

The first time I did it, I thought "this is for the birds" as it was so gentle, but the next day my god did I feel it!

They've started to move more into fast-paced cardio stuff too, but the "slow & steady | strength and sculpt" classes are the ones I use the most.

DiabolicalDee · 12/04/2023 18:15

@MarpleFan What time to they tend to be? I found some times but didn't know where in states they are.

I am evangelical about Team Body Project. Not live but literally hundreds of workouts to choose from with more being added all the time. I pay for the app (about 25 GBP) every three months and invested in a small set of wofnts and that’s all I need. Home lay, they have pilates/HIT/abs/pure resistance or a mix of all and at all levels. They have free stuff on YouTube if you want to give them a try…

AnnaMagnani · 12/04/2023 18:27

I was also going to say Team Body Project.

Daniel is possibly the most motivating person that has ever lived!

They also pitch the workouts just right so for a total couch potato the easy ones are actually doable just so progress is rapid.

HPFA · 12/04/2023 18:42

I wondered whether to mention Team BP as they're not live but another thumbs up here.

Motivation really isn't a big problem with them as there's such a variety there's always something that feels right for your mood. It's also easy to adjust a workout as you go if you find you've gone too easy or too difficult.
Try out their free membership for a while and see how you get on.
