Best leggings for running

Can I have your recommendations for running leggings please? Not fussed on colour or anything. Possibly would like a small zipped pocket for my key but not essential.

My current ones seem to start slipping down until I've worked up enough sweat to make them stick, as weird as that sounds! Probably the wrong size but if I'm investing in some new ones I'd like your recommendations!

I really love the ones I have from Rainbows and Sprinkles, which is a terrible name but great leggings. They are the only ones I've had the really don't budge, even without faffing about with waist ties. I have just bought 2 more pairs, so I'm really hoping my first pair wasn't a fluke! The sizing is off - I am a generously proportioned 16, but my R&S leggings as 12-14.

The prints are (ahem) quite jazzy, but I like that.

Decathlon are excellent VFM and have drawstrings and good pockets

New Balance and Nike also good.

Also try Flanci - smaller independent company

Heronatemygoldfish · 27/09/2022 14:55

Sturdy by design, also crazy patterns but they do a plan range as well. High waists, choice of pockets (zipped at back or thigh or both!) and you can have a woggle to secure the waist cord if you don't want to tie it.

I've got loads of them now.

missbipolar · 27/09/2022 14:57

Fabletics are amazing

PurplePetalPip · 27/09/2022 16:02

@QuantumWeatherButterfly ooh thank you, they sound promising! Although I'm not sure I've the confidence to pull off most of those designs sadly! Definitely going to order a pair, thank you.

@Heronatemygoldfish these also look good, would you say the sizing is accurate?

When I was definitely a 12 (M&S sizing!) then Medium was perfect. I got away with it until I was in a 14 but now I'm definitely not a 14 and I'm in the large and probably ought to be in the XL. Hips are (erm...) oh dear 43" now. Waist is (even more erm) 37". (Yes I am still running! Have a Half in 3 weeks)

PurplePetalPip · 27/09/2022 16:18

@Heronatemygoldfish hmm I'm a 14-16 and deliberating between the L and XL. Good luck with the half!

I like the ‘good move’ range at M&S…true to size, small zip back pocket for keys and also a good size pocket on one leg. Different lengths and patterns too

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/09/2022 16:20

Sweaty Betty, bought in the sale. Make sure anything you buy has a drawstring or they will fall down.

greenacrylicpaint · 27/09/2022 16:22

I like decathlon as well. if you have an issue with, erm, gravity, go a size up.

Heronatemygoldfish · 27/09/2022 16:22

@PurplePetalPip thanks. I will be wearing Sturdies! Just don't yet know which ones - weather being as it is!

EmmaStone · 27/09/2022 19:51

I've not bought anything other than Sweaty Betty leggings for years now (still wearing the first pair I bought YEARS ago). They stay up, are lovely and soft, and never seem to die.

I buy in the sale (sale is currently on).

DrivingTheoryTest · 27/09/2022 21:11

90% of mine are either Nike or Decathlon

I've tried other brands but I keep coming back to Nike - the shape of them just fits me perfectly. Decathlon are super VFM.

I have a couple of pairs from Brooks but they haven't lasted as well as the Nike ones. Extremely comfy though.

TheOrigRights · 27/09/2022 21:30

M&S have done their research and do stuff with zip pockets, high waist, soft fabric.

I have 2 pairs of Sweaty Betty which I love. They feel sleek and quality. Both bought in the sale.

Lucy Locket Loves for funky designs. VERY stretchy.

Nike are good quality. Ditto Ronhill

But the ones I love the most and have had the most compliments are my £15 Aldi ones which have reflective dots all over them. I run at night so they're great for being seen.

I have those Aldi ones too!

Must be a good few years old now. I'd forgotten about them until you mentioned, my winter stuff is still all packed away.

They are excellent, extremely reflective. Better than anything else for 2x the price.

Sweaty Betty Power leggings - they are on sale at the moment

DillDanding · 27/09/2022 22:15

I now only ever buy Sweaty Better 7/8 power leggings.

They are the best there is imo. And no matter how many times I wash and tumble dry them, they remain perfect.

Yes, they're YEARS old now! I have two pairs cos I love them so much.
I'm in a running club and this evening there was a mix of people who've dug out their cooler kit and those hanging on to their shorts and vests!

Roserunner · 27/09/2022 22:29

I'm a big fan of tikiboos, nice bright designs as well as some plain colours too. Very flattering and supportive, last well and are squat proof! They also have a fab and friendly Facebook community that support each other online and when spotted at runs/races!!

Rainallnight · 27/09/2022 22:36

I’m loving M&S Goodmove. Great patterns, great fit, great support.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 27/09/2022 22:38

Sweaty Betty. I never need to use the drawstring and they have not lost their shape after 2 years

emmathedilemma · 29/09/2022 10:17

I have a pair of Rainbows & Sprinkles but don't run in them because they're quite generous sizes, but if I went down a size I think the print would be stretched too thinly across my bum!
Tikiboo and Flanci are both great if you don't mind bright patterns.
Decathlon gear can be very hit and miss, you really need to try it on.
I bought a pair of Sweaty Betty as everyone raves about them but sent them back as I didn't like the fabric (i didn't like the price either, even in the sale!).
My Ronhill leggings were the worst thing I've ever owned.....it really does come down to body shape and how things fit you!

Anjelika · 30/09/2022 08:34

Sweaty Betty here too. Zero Gravity or Power. Just bought another 2 pairs in the sale. Current ones I am wearing look as good as new and are 2 years old.

eurochick · 30/09/2022 08:39

Ronhills. The designs are a bit dull but I always come back to them.

Yy to a drawstring for making them stay up, particularly if the have a phone pocket.
