Welcome all to the 2022 distance challenge thread!

Any form of self-powered movement which you can log distance for; any distance in whatever units you like for your own personal challenge!

Well the beginning of April has been a wash out running-wise due to COVID. Slowly getting back into running again but trying not to overdo it. 25.4 miles done so far this month, 273 miles YTD.

Tarahumara · 18/04/2022 10:40

Hope you feel better soon Una. I had Covid last month, but back to normal now.

11.3km on the bike today.
Total: 271km (106.2 run, 12.0 walk, 152.8 bike).

ErrolTheDragon · 18/04/2022 20:49

I reckon there's been more people on this thread having covid so far this year than there was in its forerunners over the previous two. Wise not to overdo it.

Just 3.5 km for me this evening - the grand tour of Ecclefechan, after the first short leg of our journey to Skye.

711.5 walked
35 km rowed

First run in a couple of weeks this morning - a slow 6.2km. It appears my knees aren't up to skiing for 8 hours a day for 6 consecutive days!

TTD - 418.9km

ErrolTheDragon · 21/04/2022 18:10

I thought MN didn't like my Internet connection where I am, I couldn't post but then tried logging out and in again and I think ok now.

Monday just 2.5 when we arrived plus a quick 0.4km leg stretch by the banks of Loch Lomond on the way.

Yesterday a 12 km yomp around the local headland, very boggy in places but fantastic scenery and lots of birds.

Today 8.5 in total - the first part to a white ‘coral’ beach, from where we were able to spot seals and an otter.

734.9 km walked
35 km rowed

Something funny was going on last night with June too, it seemed to have lost all my bookmarks but they're back again today!

Tarahumara · 21/04/2022 22:22

Quick 5.4km on the bike yesterday. No time to spare for exercise today!
Total: 276.4km (106.2 run, 12.0 walk, 158.2 bike).

ErrolTheDragon · 22/04/2022 19:21

10.8 km today - a broch and over a causeway to an island

Well, these were famous last words: I think this week will be rubbish, but planning for better at the weekend and the Easter weekend too Hmm We had a non-COVID bug which wiped the household out for a week by the time everyone had had it.

For the whole period since I last recorded I will add one big clump and post 35 miles, making 327 miles TTD. I felt fully back on it this weekend with 7 miles on Saturday and 5 miles yesterday.

Well done to everyone - lots of good totals now we are getting further into the year!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2022 17:58

Rotten luck , rrhuth, glad you're over it now.
After yesterdays somewhat excessive walk (it was quite rough going and up-down-up-down), a more modest 5.3 today.

777 km walked
35 km rowed

Yes 18km is a lot @ErrolTheDragon probably good to have a bit of a rest day!

I went nowhere today...

ErrolTheDragon · 26/04/2022 16:01

Just 5.7km today, but it was up and down to a lighthouse so it felt like more. Lots of birdwatching and a couple of seals.Smile

782.7 km walked

I did 3 miles today - it was very enjoyable as I was not at work and went out with DS after school.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/04/2022 17:01

7.4 km today - it felt longer, it was more or less this www.isleofskye.com/skye-guide/top-ten-skye-walks/the-quiraing

790.2 km walked
35 km rowed

That looks a lovely walk @ErrolTheDragon

rrhuth · 28/04/2022 16:30

I did 2.5 today and 4.5 yesterday and I forgot my total the other day so 337 miles TTD.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/04/2022 16:31

It was spectacular - especially as it was clear weather so could see miles to the mainland and other islands from the top - but steep up and down.

OP posts:
IsThisNameTaken · 29/04/2022 14:33

A few runs to add since my last post - total 25.9km so TTD = 444.8km

Also did a 17km walk in the Brecon Beacons at the weekend .... was only supposed to be 14km but it appears my map reading skills are non-existent!

ErrolTheDragon · 29/04/2022 16:31

Our planned walk this morning was blocked by a herd of cows with young calves, which we decided it would be unwise to tangle with. So we ended up with 2x 3.1km, with a nice lunch in between.

801.4 km walked
35 km rowed

rrhuth · 29/04/2022 21:07

5 miles today, 342 miles TTD. 32% of the year gone and 34% of my target completed Smile

UnaOfStormhold · 01/05/2022 11:19

Well covid and post covid rather wrecked progress, just 36 miles, 283ytd. Hopefully this month will improve though I don't know if I will be able to make up the backlog over the next few months.

Tarahumara · 01/05/2022 11:49

7.5km run to add to my total, have been so busy recently but hoping to have more spare time this month.
Total: 283.9km (113.7 run, 12.0 walk, 158.2 bike).
