Leggings with phone pocket

I'm on the fat and just starting c25k threadđź‘‹ and would love some advice on what others wear to run in.

Last year I treated myself to one pair of Sweaty Betty Power leggings and I've really enjoyed wearing them now for c25k (they were great for pilates and lounging). The best bit: the side pocket, big enough for my phone so I can follow my program.

The worst bit: the price of these SB leggings! I can't justify spending ÂŁ75 on a second pair (or even ÂŁ63 by joining their mailing list)

Does anyone have other running leggings they would recommend that have a side pocket big enough for a phone, please?

Already had a look at Lululemon and the prices are barely any cheaper. Help out a skint newbie runner!

I agree about getting a flipbelt or leggings with a waistband phone pocket. My flipbelt holds phone, keys, snack, teeny hand san, etc, and I don't notice it.

Sorry not read thread but got done from decathlon for about ÂŁ15!

AuntieStella · 08/01/2021 09:53

Decathlon own brands all have pockets (though positioning can vary, some are waist not leg and some are waist and leg). And drawstrings. And fabrics which don't go see-thru. Excellent performance, and by far the best VFM going

I find the Lucy Lockets great quality. I bought them solely for running.

Sugar pockets weren’t so impressive though and felt flimsy after a couple of months of use.

"Those side phone pockets might do during c25k, but when you get to doing more running you'll find having your phone on one leg is very, very, irritating indeed"

You're being very kind - not sure when/if I'll ever reach that stage of proficiency or enjoyment to run moreGrin

What I like about the side pocket is that I don't have to wear something extra (phone holder or waist belt) and the phone won't flap around (like it does in my running jacket pocket, when I wash the SBs and wear some Ronhills.) Does a flipbelt flap around, bounce about? I've never used one before.

And I seem to have a stupidly big phone (even though it's not new or latest model) but it's too big to fit into the back pocket of my Ronhills.

Thank you for all the suggestions.

Decathlon - plus they are cheap

M&S go move!
I bought done just before Christmas and already have a second pair. Big phone pocket on the leg that fits my huge iPhone, and they don’t ride down or anything. Already thinking of ordering more!

Was just about to say M&S . I think I've bought 7 pairs since the first lockdown started Blush, but at ÂŁ25 per pair they are seriously good value, loads of funky patterns as well and great quality.

ChessIsASport · 08/01/2021 13:28

Under Armour. The pocket is identical to the Sweaty Betty ones for the pairs I have. Under Armour are my favourite running tights.

LilyE1234 · 08/01/2021 13:28

Victoria’s Secret. They’re so soft with big pockets. Only £35 at the moment too

sandalsinthebin · 08/01/2021 13:40

These from Amazon are great they're so comfy. I have a few pairs and literally wear them all the time. Keep their shape beautifully when washed. Pockets are really deep too.

I've always just used karrimor for running which are cheap if a bit boring. I got some sugarpocket a couple of years ago which I love but not for running as they don't stay in place. After reading reviews on Lucy Locket I splashed out on a couple of pairs just before Christmas. One is great & I was initially convinced by the hype but the other pair is much bigger despite being the same size. I think I'll go back to my boring karrimor!

Tricerapops · 08/01/2021 13:54

Karrimor do ones with a back zip pocket which I prefer to the leg pockets. They are always pretty cheap from sports direct.

I also have ones from Amazon with deep leg pockets on both sides. High waistband too which is good for running and not see through (I checked my squatting in front of the mirror Grin)

Sorry, couldn't work out how to do a link on the app so attached a screenshot instead

fruitpastille · 08/01/2021 14:18

M&S good move have a both side pocket and a zip pocket on the back big enough for a medium size phone. They stay up too. Just bought a second pair.

MsMartini · 08/01/2021 14:30

No, the flipbelt stays completely in place, I forget I've got it on. They aren't cheap but appear indestructible, dry fast and work brilliantly. I find it much more comfortable than putting things in pockets and in normal times means I can stop off at shops onw ay back or whatever as can carry a foldable bag etc.

BlackCatShadow · 08/01/2021 14:32

Why not just buy yourself a nice bumbag instead?

AnnaSW1 · 08/01/2021 14:36

I have some Nike ones

UnrulyJulie · 08/01/2021 14:55

I used to get my leggings from Matalan. Cheap and they’ve stayed in better shape/kept their colour than my Nike ones I have to say. I treated myself to the more expensive ones when I lost weight but I’ve gone back to Matalan ones as I found them so much better!

They used to do more pocket ones but here’s a few:

I also like Decathlon ones. My two favourite pairs are from there and cost ÂŁ16 each. They last for ages.

TottiePlantagenet · 08/01/2021 15:46

Thanks everyone.

I have ordered the Decathlon ones and some 7/8 M&S ones (forgot to mention that I'm a shortie) to try on. I like the look of some of the others, but think it'll be easiest to return from these 2 retailers if they're not right for me. Thanks once again for your help.

ps will definitely look into a flipbelt should I ever run more than 5k at a time ;)

Decathlon are great, and I prefer a side/leg pocket to a waist pocket even when I’m doing long distances. I also have a flip belt for when I don’t have pockets, it doesn’t move at all but does get sweaty.

MsMartini · 08/01/2021 21:33

Decathlon leggings are great. I love the Runwarm fleece-lined ones.
