How many hours a week do you exercise?

Just curious what other people do?

How many hours a week do you exercise and what kind of things are you doing?

Last week I did what felt like a lot and just want to check I am in the realms of normal and not getting some kind of addiction going on.

So HIIT - 2.30
Strength and conditioning - 3.30
Heavy resistance - 2

Total 8 hours of exercise.

This week is looking pretty much the same too except an extra hour of strength and conditioning so 9 hours total.

I run for 35 minutes every day. So 4 hours and 20 minutes a week.

KinkyFink · 30/09/2020 17:13

I do between 15 and 20 hours a week martial arts/strength and conditioning but that's because I'm training for a fight and there are so many disciplines - not feasible or necessary for most people 😅

yeOldeTrout · 30/09/2020 17:14

Probably 10-14 hrs/week. This has not made me skinny. :)
Exercise helps with my terrible insomnia.

Sometimes I watch up to an hour of tv/day.

Trauchled · 30/09/2020 17:30

2 x1hr Pilates classes
2 x1-2 hours of tennis
1-2 hours light resistance workout in the gym
2-3 longish(5-6 miles) walks

icedancerlenny · 30/09/2020 17:42

I do a fair bit. I run for about an hour 3/4x a week. 2 reformer Pilates classes. 3/4 cycle rides of between 2 and 6 hours. Two body pump classes an hour each. I love it

Alarae · 30/09/2020 18:18

About 4 hours at the moment, made up of two 45 minute spin classes, two 1hr body pump and a swim session at the weekend.

On the lead up to my wedding I did 13 hours of classes a week. That was a bit excessive.

bingoncbeebies · 30/09/2020 18:18

The amount people exercise Shock

I have 2 toddlers and a dog so I'm on my feet most of the day. I go to the gym 3x a week but not 100% consistent. Due to Covid the gym session is in 45 min slots only, I'd prefer to go for an hour+ though.

OpEd · 30/09/2020 18:26

2-4 hours of horse riding per week. I wish it was more but impossible due to childcare until next year.

HIITPrincess · 30/09/2020 18:55

This has made me feel so much better.

It says more about them than it does me.

Anywhere between 7-12 hours per week dedicated exercise time, depending where I am in the triathalon season

5 x 45 mins Pilates
1 x 1 hour strength & conditioning

2 x 1 hour swims
2 x 1 hour run
1 x 1 hour turbo (spin) session
1 x 2-3 hour bike

Alternate weeks I swap the long bike for an hour on the turbo but do a 2 hour run instead

If we're also counting walking I walk the dog for at least an hour 6 days a week and we do a 2-3 hour walk at the weekend!

In summer we fell walk so maybe once a fortnight/every 3 weeks we go out for 6-8 hours.

I get the obsessive comments too, but like a previous poster says the people making the comments spend hours sat watching tv or in the pub - those have got zero appeal to me!

dementedpixie · 30/09/2020 22:23

2 body pump
1 combat
1 body balance
1 body attack

All 45 minutes. I am doing an extra combat class this week

hiddeneverythin · 30/09/2020 22:45

Goodness
I thought I was doing well with 20-30 mins HIIT or bootcamp every day. Must up my game!

CostaCosta · 30/09/2020 22:49

I run 30 mins every other day

Veterinari · 30/09/2020 22:52

About 8 hours/week.
Mix of aerobic and strength
Still fat though

monkeyonthetable · 30/09/2020 22:59

Yoga 1.5 hours pw - more strenuous than it sounds. Doing 40 sun salutations is tiring!
Circuit training - body weight and weights 4x45m pw
I go for 2-4 walks a week too - but I wouldn't count them as they are usually only about 3 miles and though they are hilly, they're not fast.

I would like ot do a lot more as my day job is so sedentary, so this is the only exercise I get. There's not much moving around unless I active take part in something,

rosina38 · 30/09/2020 23:15

I do 2x45 min mixed cardio / HIIT sessions and an hour session with a PT. in between that I might do a swim and also walk our dog

Trying to lose weight post baby

Foreverlexicon · 30/09/2020 23:19

I ride my horse for 30-60 minutes 5 or 6 days a week.
I usually do 1 45 min hit class and 1 45 min body pump class a week.
I also do 1-3 sessions in the gym on my own which tends to equate to 45 min cardio, 45 min weights and 20 min swimming a time. The number of these depends on life/shifts.

I think as long as you are taking rest days and you don’t feel guilty if you miss a day then it’s fine. I love being active and my long gym sessions are a treat for me. Not sure how this happened as a couple of years ago I hated exercise bar riding but I enjoy it and I have the healthiest attitude towards my body and food (I’ve previously suffered from eating disorders) that I’ve ever had.

Toontown · 30/09/2020 23:25

God not that much
2 hours football
6 -10 hours walking the dogs
1 hour cycling
I hour yoga

Heffalooomia · 30/09/2020 23:29

It depends on what counts as exercise... if we are including walking and yoga then for me it's about 3 hours a day, consisting yoga walking running cycling strengthtraining

DillonPanthersTexas · 30/09/2020 23:39

Mon - 1 hour weights
Tues - 1 hour erg
Weds - 12km water session (90mins)
Thurs - 1 hour erg
Fri - rest
Sat - Water session 1x 18km, 1 x 12km (3.5 hours)
Sun - 1 x 12km (90 mins)

KnitFastDieWarm · 01/10/2020 00:04

three strength sessions, two cardio sessions, one powerlifting class (my absolute favourite) and usually a decent walk or a bit of yoga at the weekend. I bloody love moving.
I am by no means thin. Super fit though! Grin

dhisreadingmypostsagain · 01/10/2020 00:19

This is inspiring! I'm recovering for an operation so nothing for me right now, but going to intro yoga before I go back to weightlifting.

Can I ask from the yoga people, any good online ones to get me moving?

Pre operation I was typical desk all day but gym 4 times a week, dog walk daily.

monkeyonthetable · 01/10/2020 08:07

@dhisreadingmypostsagain - yes Yoga with Adriene. She is superb. And she has a huge range of online classes, from very gentle 5 minute morning wake ups, to target stretches to more advanced full classes.

HIITPrincess · 01/10/2020 09:17

Some serious workouts going on.

I feel so much healthier this year it's really helped my mind set and mental health too.

OP posts:
ZoomRoom · 01/10/2020 20:47

I've never added it up before!

40 mins strength (weights and resistance bands) 6 days a week
3x 10k hikes a week
25km running a week
10k steps every day

So around 15-20 hours a week.
