I hope it's ok starting a new thread. I found the last one so encouraging and didn't want it to stop!!

Also, have to share I've just done W6R3 - my first 25 min run. Wasn't sure I was going to make it to the end, but kept moving (as Jo Whiley told me to) and did it!!

How are others getting on?

Mysterian - you are a running god! British or no.

Congratulations cherrypi!

Week 6 run 1 is harder than week 5 run 3. Fact. I threw all my toys out of the pram on week 6 run 1 on an epically hot day and sat in the woods just off the footpath and cried. Still finished the programme, bad days or no!

ChanklyBore · 07/07/2020 22:10

Guy - feel better soon. I’m sure a little break will do you good and a run or two when you feel better will get you back to where you were.

NCTDN · 07/07/2020 22:20

@Murmurur you sound just like me! I think I'll be repeating a week. Couldn't face running in the rain tonight.

Well done cherrypi!

I bet that tea tasted like ambrosia Mysterian.

Sorry you're feeling under the weather Guy, an exceptionally tough term I imagine! Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm now more concerned about w6r1 than w5r3 ..

notaflyingmonkey · 08/07/2020 08:04

w2r2 done this morning. In the rain. I couldn't allow myself to put it off as that would have been the first of many excuses as to why I couldn't do it.

Staggering along in wet socks was less than pleasant.

But now having brekkie and a coffee with wet stuff in the machine, ready to start work for the day.

MsPants · 08/07/2020 08:32

Well done @notaflyingmonkey. I bottled it this morning in favour of an extra half an hour in bed, the rain makes me lose my mojo. You should be very proud of yourself for getting it done.

I'm going to have to go this afternoon now, when everyone can see me Sad

notaflyingmonkey · 08/07/2020 08:40

The huge (and only) advantage to going out early in the rain was that there was nobody else out.

Good luck for later @MsPants.

mumto2unicorns · 08/07/2020 08:52

@notaflyingmonkey well done for getting up and out. I think I might try and get out earlier tomorrow. Currently getting up and logged on for 7 so might still do that and then go out at 8 once I've woken up a bit.

Murmurur · 08/07/2020 11:51

@NCTDN fistbump! Or ankle bump or whatever we are meant to do these days.

@Cherrypi congratulations!

@UnaOfStormhold don't be scared about W6R1. I had a bad one when I repeated but it was fine first time round. So much so that it was the one I chose to repeat when I wanted an easier one. I hope this period theory is correct. If so, next week will be much better.

Murmurur · 08/07/2020 11:52

@MsPants, good luck for later. I bet everyone else is staying indoors and you'll have the roads to yourself x

UnaOfStormhold · 08/07/2020 12:35

I'm due to go out for a run this evening but may take my fourth rest day of the week today and run tomorrow - I have had to go into the office today and travelling in CV times does make me very tired. Plus I'll have 40 mins walking today but will be stuck in my home office tomorrow so will craving the exercise come evening! The rain might have stopped too...

FloatOn · 08/07/2020 12:39

@Sexnotgender glad its not just me, was starting to think I was coming down with a bug or something as I couldnt run the length of myself last week, then yesterday was better. Very bizarre!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/07/2020 16:29

May I join you all?

I did c25k about 5 years ago but didn’t keep it up. Ds2 (12) wanted a fitness challenge so we’ve decided to try this!

So far we’ve got to week 5! We’ve got to do run 3 on Friday and he’s really not looking forward to it. It does sound like a huge jump, but I don’t remember it being too bad last time so I’m trying to stay positive!

We’ve tried morning runs and he doesn’t like it, so now we’re tending to go straight after I get home from work, before we eat our evening meal. We survived the really hot days that we had a few weeks ago by going out at about 9pm, yesterday was our first really wet run which wasn’t much fun!

So far we’re covering about 3.7 - 3.9kms in total (all of the walking and running) so it would be good to get up to the 5kms.

mumto2unicorns · 08/07/2020 18:00

@Muchtoomuchtodo welcome. I dreaded w5r3 but was actually fine and I was so pleased with myself when I finished. It was a real sense of achievement especially when you think back to how hard you found w1.

PrincessWatermelon · 08/07/2020 18:22

Evening all.
Sorry not able to name tag and all. Have had to go back to work, and it's surprising how much time it takes up!! Am fitting in runs before my DH goes to work.

First run of wk 8 tomorrow- 28 mins 😲

Week 4 first run done. It was ok Maybe something is working Grin

ChanklyBore · 08/07/2020 19:35

Alright, don’t worry too much about week 6 run 1 - it was hard because I was complacent. Don’t be mplike me and you’ll be fine!

Welcome Muchtoo.

I got a proper buzz from Monday’s run which I haven’t had for a while, so I thought I’d get out again today and I managed another 5k. I had a real problem in weeks 7-9 with running too fast to start with, struggling to finish and my km times were all over the place. I think maybe I’m sorting that out now because Monday’s 5k was 33.58 and today’s 33.32. Fastest km was 6.02 and slowest 7.12 over both runs, still not as consistent as I’d like but definitely better.

ChanklyBore · 08/07/2020 19:40

Oh, and we have those driving speed check displays on the road into our village, it flashes up your speed and a smiling face if you are under 20mph. Today I set it off! There was no car anywhere in sight. It clocked me at 6mph and gave me a smiley face.

CeciledeVolanges · 08/07/2020 20:41

I don’t often say this and it’s probably very conceited, but after cycling 5 miles home at the end of the working day, I’ve just got back from a very rainy week 7, run 1! I was very slow but didn’t stop for the whole 25 minutes and the last minute, instead of running a loop at the bottom of the hill as I have been doing, I set determinedly off up the hill (I live at the top of the hill). I feel like the whole time I was running I was being overtaken by male runners! But pleased with myself nonetheless, it’s actually much nicer running in a bit of drizzle than in the baking sun.

Sexnotgender · 08/07/2020 20:43

W6R2 done. Was a bit of a slog. I definitely prefer the non stop running. Starting the second ten minute run my calves were tight as they’d got cool.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/07/2020 21:22

That’s brilliant Grin
Stopthehop · 09/07/2020 07:45

Just done a very wet and soggy wk8 run 3. I was overtaken twice by the same male runner today.

Murmurur · 09/07/2020 08:52

@Stopthehop well done! At least it was a runner. Much more embarrassing when it's a walker, or a common or garden snail Grin

NCTDN · 09/07/2020 08:59

Haha mumurur that's more like me! Well done Stop. I've just finished week 7. Each run I've gone further than them one before. However I'm still v slow. There's no way in 2 weeks I'll be running 5km in the time on the app. Do I continue to week 8 or repeat week 7 and see if I can get fatter?
