I hope it's ok starting a new thread. I found the last one so encouraging and didn't want it to stop!!

Also, have to share I've just done W6R3 - my first 25 min run. Wasn't sure I was going to make it to the end, but kept moving (as Jo Whiley told me to) and did it!!

How are others getting on?

Week 4 run 3 done. Still not dead!

Sexnotgender · 04/07/2020 16:27

Thanks @GuyFawkesDay, good to know it’s not embarrassingly slow. Just walked the dogs and DH suggested a bike ride 😟 I passed on the bike ride, I’m knackered!

CeciledeVolanges · 04/07/2020 18:40

I managed about 7.24 minutes per km. Just peeked ahead and week 7 run 1 is also 25 minutes! I might have a rest tomorrow...

Halfstonehomerun · 04/07/2020 18:45

Right, posting for accountability again! Due to do W7R3 in an hour and not feeling it, even though the last one was fine.

Anyway-my jeans are getting too tight so that’s motivation and I’ll be on week 8 next if I just get over myself and get out there.

Well done! Definitely don’t run 2 days in a row, you need a rest day.

I need some gin! Just put toddler to bed, don’t think I’ll be far behind 😂

naemates · 04/07/2020 18:56

I did W4R6 today 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think I have this week cracked now though, going to have one more before moving onto week 5.

I'll get there

I've been repeating the runs, as I struggled

NCTDN · 04/07/2020 19:27

@Sexnotgender I'm nearer 10 min/km so you're fast!

Ahh, fair enough. Hope you’re not running everyday? Rest days are important.
Sexnotgender · 04/07/2020 19:45

@NCTDN that’s interesting. I had no idea whether that was a decent time per km or not.

CeciledeVolanges · 04/07/2020 19:52

I’m definitely going to have a rest day, as I’m feeling it in my calves for some reason alongside the muscle soreness from resuming cycling...

Halfstonehomerun · 04/07/2020 20:14

I went. I feel so relieved that I did it and can move in. Hopefully I’ll be a bit more motivated next week. I’m doing a km in 8.25 so there’s work to be done!

UnaOfStormhold · 04/07/2020 21:34

W3R3 done and suddenly I'm a third of the way through! I had to go back home again to change out of my new running shoes which appear to have been an expensive mistake, but restarted the running bit and finished well, adding 2 mins onto the end of the last run section to help build up to W4R1.

Very encouraging to hear everyone's progress, makes getting to the end seem possible!

But a snail moves faster than me Grin

Stopthehop · 05/07/2020 09:07

I've just done wk 8 run 1. I struggled all the way today, I don't know why.

NCTDN · 05/07/2020 09:48

I found today hard going - my legs felt heavy. However, overall I've ran further than the last run. I deliberately did the same route and on w7 so all the runs are the same. Very shocked to find I had a minute of running left at the end point of last time.
Is running speed including the first and last 5 minutes per do you start when the running starts? I've used map my run for the first time today.

Alamindah · 05/07/2020 09:55

@Stopthehop I really struggled at wrk 8 too. Lost all my mojo and felt completely dispirited. On the advice of someone on the last thread, I used Runkeeper (and stopped the C25K app) and I have the person telling me the time and distance every 5 minutes. It helped take the pressure off somehow. When I have a tricky day, I aim for 30 minutes of running (as that's what it's all about) and try not to worry about distance. In practice, I usually find my stride and carry on for 5K (about 35 minutes for me!)

Mysterian · 05/07/2020 09:58

Week 9 run 2. Absolute disaster from start to finish. Up a hill onto a common and what turned out to be a vicious headwind. I literally couldn't breathe enough to match the effort I was putting in just to move slowly forward. Then heel pain, then shin pain. I gave up and walked for 5 minutes, then ran again with the wind following me for another 5 or 10 minutes. I tried to take a drink and fumbled it causing me to stop for 3 seconds and when I tried to run again all the muscles in my legs said "no way!"

And my cap blew off.

I put it down to the wind, and the walk I went on yesterday not giving me enough rest after the previous run. I'm just going to say "oh well!" and write that run off. Gone. In the past. I'll learn from mistakes but I'm moving on.

PrincessWatermelon · 05/07/2020 10:50

That sounds like a hideous run, @Mysterian! Definitely down to the wind. Do you feel you've ticked off W9R2 or will you repeat it?

@NCTDN so far I've been using Strava or MapMyRun and I start when I leave the house and stop when I return, so my pace is including walking. But today I had my new Garmin as well ("all the gear but no idea!!") and so I started the activity on that when I started running and stopped after the 25 mins. It gives a fairer representation of your running pace then.

@Stopthehop I'm not finding the longer runs as easy as I'd hoped. W7R2 here, and thought I've run 25 mins twice already. But even so it was a drag to get through it. Listened to a podcast and that did help to take my mind off it.

@Sexnotgender that's a very good pace!!

Mysterian · 05/07/2020 10:58

I'm going to repeat it Princess. I only ran for about 15 minutes. It counts as a 'top up' between proper runs.

Cherrypi · 05/07/2020 12:05

I just week 9 run 2 too. Went a bit fast for run 1 so thought I'd take it a bit slower. Also just measured the distance for just the run part. Wasn't even 3k which was a bit dispiriting. Had enough energy for the sprint at the end so will try a bit faster next time.

Murmurur · 05/07/2020 12:38

W7R1 done. Pleased I did it but looking at the remainder of the programme it all feels like a bit of a slog from here. Think I might sneak in some easier ones, maybe repeat W6R1 next time.

mumto2unicorns · 05/07/2020 13:12

W5r3 done. It was pouring with rain and just got worse and worse. I was drenched by the time I was finished but completed it and was so proud of myself. Need to look at getting myself a proper running top as my t-shirt was soaked and so heavy.

Well done! I did the same run yesterday, it’s tough.
