I hope it's ok starting a new thread. I found the last one so encouraging and didn't want it to stop!!

Also, have to share I've just done W6R3 - my first 25 min run. Wasn't sure I was going to make it to the end, but kept moving (as Jo Whiley told me to) and did it!!

How are others getting on?

It's frustrating when things don't go to plan but please don't think of it as failure or that you should have "pushed through". It's never easy to tell what can be safely run through and when keeping going would mean doing more damage, and it's always better to err on the safe side.

MirandaWest · 26/07/2020 11:46

Just did week 6 run 1. Felt a bit odd doing intervals again but good to be out there doing it

Twilbury · 26/07/2020 12:43

Wk5 r1 done ! Was actually ok (ish) Very warm here today which doesnt help but happy to tick another one of the list. Nearly half way there now which is a good feeling.

bengalcat · 26/07/2020 13:10

Done it

NCTDN · 26/07/2020 13:12

Well done Bengal! What's next?

bengalcat · 26/07/2020 13:24

Will carry on running - prob aim for twice a week .

Stopthehop · 26/07/2020 16:29

Well done @bengalcat.

Murmurur · 27/07/2020 01:58

Well done @bengalcat! Fantastic.

@Stopthehop don't call it failure, it's just a bad run. Look after yourself. Hope your hip is feeling better.

I should have done W8R3 today but was too tired and had a long nap instead. Oops.

notaflyingmonkey · 27/07/2020 08:40

W5R2 done in the rain this morning. Friday is due to be 30 degrees so both extremes of weather in a week, which I am not looking forward to - I think I may need to go out super early that day.

I'm surprised that I managed two 8m runs relatively ok, but I think I full on 20m is going to be something different all together.

Polkadotties · 27/07/2020 09:06

Should have done w3r3 this week but my knees were aching. Off to blue water this morning, will get some new trainers and hopefully that will help

mumto2unicorns · 27/07/2020 11:09

Well done @bengalcat great achievement.

I've just completed w9r2 so just one more to go. Still can't believe it.

At the beginning of the month I signed up to one of those virtual races and set myself a goal of 50 miles. So I have been including my warm up and cool down walks. Currently on 44 miles so almost done.

Might sign up to another one for august but only count my running distances. Because you have to submit your evidence at the end of the month it kept me motivated and stopped me for taking extra rest days as I needed to achieve my goal.

bengalcat · 27/07/2020 13:15

Thanks for the congrats ladies and best wishes and encouragement for all .

thisenglishlife · 27/07/2020 13:18

You did the right thing @Stopthehop you'll do it another time :-)

Well done @bengalcat 🎉🍾🥂

I completed week two on the weekend.

Today I ran home from the allotment - for 6.5 minutes, 0.7 miles uphill (after a 2hr allotment clearing).

OceanPacific · 27/07/2020 18:16

Hi all. Can I join you please? Have been doing C25K very slowly during lockdown. I injured myself last time I tried the programme by pushing myself too much and it kyboshed me for a couple of months. So I've been super careful - repeating weeks (doing the first of each week on a treadmill and the repeating the runs the following week outside) and listening to my body etc. Anyway - just did W5W6 outside today for the first time ever!! Very proud of myself. Furthest I've ever run. 😅

PrincessWatermelon · 27/07/2020 20:46

Congratulations to @bengalcat !! What a great feeling. Now to keep up the running.

And I agree with the others @Stopthehop You can't just run through sore hips. It's far better to listen and see what your body needs. Maybe an extra day rest and then try again.

Welcome to @OceanPacific. It sounds like you are going at the pace you need, so well done. I admit that I'm too impatient and doubt I'd have been able to repeat all the weeks. I know by the end I was pleased to crack on and get done!

I'm still feeling my way since graduation. My Garmin watch (there's a training thing on there for 10k) gave me a benchmark run to do on Sat which was a 5 min run with 2 mins warm up/down. So ran all of it and a bit more as well!! But wasn't as easy as I'd hoped!! Tomorrow it wants me to do a 20 min run. But I feel like I'm going backwards not progressing.

I'm also feeling grumpy cos my DH went out and did his first run in about 4 months and knocked out 4.5k in 25 mins. He was playing rugby prior to lockdown, to be fair. But still was a bit put out! He's done nothing in 4 months!!! We then proceeded to have an argument where I said his 6'4 frame made it easier than my 5'3, but sadly he was right that it doesn't work like that.

Ds and I repeated week 7 run 3 today because he wasn’t up for week 8 run 1.

It was pouring with rain and we tweaked our route a bit but we both did fine.

We should run in Wednesday now but he’s going mountain biking for the day so I’ll probably do it by myself and we’ll have to do an extra week 8 run.

TeamEponine · 28/07/2020 08:00

I need to do W6R2 this morning, but really not feeling it! Hoping that by the time I get out, something miraculous will happen Hmm

Sexnotgender · 28/07/2020 08:23

Planning W8R2 later, was meant to do it yesterday but the weather was absolutely atrocious. I’m definitely a fair weather runner😂

DivisionBelles · 28/07/2020 08:32

I was on one of the other threads back in April/May and got to W6R2. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in the middle of May and had to stop because I needed a total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Luckily the cancer was the lowest grade and stage and has gone.

I'm now back in the C25K game again 8 weeks after the operation. I didn't want to start right at the beginning and I managed W3R1 today reasonably easily so I haven't lost all my fitness thankfully. Over the last two weeks I've been trying to walk at least 5k each day so I think that has helped too.

I'm going to get to the end this time!

MirandaWest · 28/07/2020 08:58

Did week 6 run 2 today - was lovely and sunny at about 6:30 Smile

Am a little daunted to know there’s no more intervals but hopefully I’ll keep going Grin

Twilbury · 28/07/2020 09:51

Wk 5 R2 done !

Still feeling a bit daunted about the next run but I do think it is possible .

Half way there now which is a good feeling.

Sexnotgender · 28/07/2020 10:03

Oh my gosh @DivisionBelles how scary, I’m glad you’re on the mend. Welcome back!

Twilbury · 28/07/2020 10:23

@DivisionBelles sorry I missed your post.
That sounds really scary, brilliant to be back on it so quickly after the op.

DCIRozHuntley · 28/07/2020 10:26

Hi I've just found this thread. My next run on Thursday will be Week 5 Run 1. I've completed week 4 today. I'm finding it easier than I thought in some ways (I think I have reasonable base level of fitness, I don't especially struggle with gettkng out of breath) but I am getting achy legs on my rest days now. Invested in some Fabletics though to spur me on Wink

PrincessWatermelon · 28/07/2020 10:37

Welcome back @DivisionBelles and so pleased you've been able to pick it up again. Well done on the walking too. I'm sure having done the 6 weeks before the op would've helped your recovery time as well.

Quite a few people coming close to graduation! I found weeks 7/8/9 a little tedious - there wasn't any variation, just gradually running more. Just in case anyone else gets a bit disheartened. I switched to podcast listening and that made all the difference.

Just back from my longest run so far - 6k in 40 mins. Ran along the sea front and it was glorious! Wanted to stop after 5 mins and then at 2k I didn't think I'd get much further. But pushed through and found a groove.
