Time for honesty; What stops you from exercising?!

Just thought it'd be interesting to see what holds other people back from exercising?
My main one is I struggle to do a basic warmup without getting really out of breath which puts me off continuing!😣

Be honest and let's see if we can get some motivation going! 🏋️‍♀️

Putting on the sports bra. It feels like a bigger effort. And drying my hair after the shower.

And a slipped disc right now.

I have chronic pain , I still cycle and walk a lot but running and anything more hurts for weeks afterwards so I don't do it .. I actually would love to be able to got for a run as I love being outside with my music .
I'm also scared of dying young after losing 3 friends in a year in their 40's so I try to do something at least.

Psoriatic Arthritis. It's not just the joints that it affects, it attacks the tendons as well, so combined with hypermobility, I'm very likely to end up with a severe injury from such strenuous activities as putting on a pair of trainers or standing up. In the process of travelling from the house to the gym, I can be fine, take one step exactly the same as the others, and my knee, ankle, foot, hip, etc, can just suddenly start hurting and I can barely make it back indoors.

If I can get there, I'm usually pretty good, as long as I've prepared for both gym and pool, because I can take whatever option is less painful.

Add to that post-infection symptoms, so I'm out of breath, my heart is pounding and I'm dizzy from going upstairs - I'm not exercising for a while.

FFS, this bastarding virus has meant I'm exhausted after running an electric shaver over my legs. And there is no way I'd be going anywhere near a gym once they reopen with flaking, hairy legs - which means that, as it is too risky in terms of injury from PsA to exercise outside a controlled environment and range of motion (free weights and squats are absolutely Not Allowed), I am going to be back at square one in terms of health and fitness.

Find an exercise that you enjoy. You will then find time to do it.
I don't have time = it's not a priority for me
Get up earlier and exercise
Go to bed later and exercise
Eat less
There is no excuse for being fat and unfit.
You only have yourself to blame.

I don't think there is an exercise that I enjoy. Not sure why people assume that there's an exercise everyone will enjoy.

Everything else which follows in your post is therefore foundation-less. And simplistic. And rude.

I don’t enjoy any exercise. Except walking so I do a fair bit of that - 40 mins very brisk most days. But I hate actual exercise in terms of running, the gym, fitness anything etc. Just hate it. Hate all sports.

I think people who love fitness can’t believe other people don’t enjoy it. They become almost evangelical about it.

I am dyslexic and often need to be shown how to do certain exercises. Not able to pick up everything from YouTube.

Mostly CBA. In normal times I walk a lot.

The only exercise I enjoy are walking, which takes a lot of time and horse riding, which is very expensive.

Time and childcare. I love exercise but can't pin DP down to regular slots of childcare on account of his irregular shifts. I am not great at seizing the moment either when opportunity arises or just walking out of the door when he could feasibly be in charge.

Joints that pop out of place far too easily.

I just walk, these days. Not sure what I'm going to do when the trainers I like to walk in wear through, mind. They're not far off and sourcing a wide fit trainer for an overpronator with easily irritated achilles tendons that isn't dead garish or old lady-ish and without being able to try on is a tall order. (open to suggestions, here. I'm wearing Nike dart 11.)

Laziness! Usually lack of time but I’ve been exercising daily in lockdown doing HIIT workouts.

But I can’t see any differences in appearance so will lose motivation soon.

Low motivation, which is partly caused by a foot injury that hasn't healed in six months (probably because I'm overweight) and partly because I'm fat and idle.

Horrible frizzy hair. If it gets the slightest bit damp it turns into a fuzzy mess and it takes ages to blow dry to get it looking normal. So I avoid anything remotely hot and sweaty, swimming is definitely avoided.
