Just wondering if anyone has one or is considering it?

Loubilou09 · 24/01/2019 21:38

But that’s a shit option greendale

Loubilou09 · 24/01/2019 21:39

And how would you know it’s “far better” if you haven’t tried the Peloton?

greendale17 · 24/01/2019 22:22

I have tried it. A friend got one. It is a rip off- £39 a month? She doesn’t use it anymore if anyone wants to buy a second hand one?

Maremaremare · 24/01/2019 22:25

Promise it wasn’t! Actually I just saw they’re offering the UK market £100 off at the moment anyway, so referral code is redundant anyway. My husband ordered ours so I didn’t realise till now.

@greendale17 - I was posting asking for info as we were hesitating about taking the plunge?

OP posts:
Loubilou09 · 25/01/2019 06:20

Greendale yes please - can you PM me and I will have it.

Loubilou09 · 25/01/2019 06:29

To me £39 is a bargain! I have taken £21 spin classes this month ranging from 30-60 minutes and all completely different. I have done 7 arm toning sessions, various cool down rides and stretch sessions and I still have another 7 days of use and want to try the live yoga classes on top of my spinning everyday. Last year I paid £46 a month for my local gym and went to the gym once and a body balance class once. Which one is more value?

Loubilou09 · 28/01/2019 10:14

And suprise, surprise no more comment from Greendale.....bullshit has her mate got one secondhand for sale Hmm

Cosmos45 · 28/01/2019 10:25

If she's got one for sale, I'll have it.. I'm guessing all the people who are dissing the peloton haven't actually tried it. And regarding Want2be's arguments about pricing etc, the WHOLE point of Peloton is NOT going to the gym. I too had a gym membership at a local council run gym for £40 a month - I think I went 3 times in a year, the class times never suited me, the spin classes were solidly booked by the same people everyweek and you could never get in, there was the whole driving there (20 mins to my closest gym) and back and then paying for parking. Now I can just jump on my bike any time of the night or day I fancy, no one can see me (which is an added bonus as I have put on weight and very conscious about it) and importantly it feels just like I am in a studio spin class. Without the hassle. Considering how quickly they are taking off in the uk and the massive FB following where literally NO-ONE regrets their purchase I can only think that Peloton are on to a winner.. And with regards the shite options like Zwift etc.. erm right.

Cosmos45 · 28/01/2019 10:29

With regards the normal bike and turbo trainer option - a turbo trainer sounds like a plane taking off, the whole point of peloton is it's silent so perfect for those who don't live in a detached house in the middle of nowhere where the bike/turbo option isn't suitable. Also the point of the spin classes for a lot of people are the musicality elements, cadence to the beat of the music (very motivating) etc and instruction of what resistance you should be at. Very very very good for non-motivators like me and for non-cyclists who perhaps don't understand the proper form on a bike and need instruction

Loubilou09 · 31/01/2019 16:12

Update on me "rip off" "gimmick" I have now completed 47 spin classes and lost 7lbs from exercise alone in one month. On it most days and not bored yet!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT

Maremaremare · 02/02/2019 19:13

My husband and I are still totally loving it to, to the point of obsession. I've never exercised in winter before, but am spinning nearly every day now. Love it!

Favourite instructors are Ally Love and Cody so far, but I might do the One For All ride to get a taste of the whole range of instructors.

TRISTATE AREA I LIVE IN THE TRISTATE AREA

MorrisZapp · 02/02/2019 19:32

Never heard of the Les Mills app, am going to check that out.

WhiteCat1704 · 09/03/2019 10:31

I'm considering buying it but the price is putting me off.

Loubilou09 are you still using yours and think it's worth it?

Maremaremare · 11/03/2019 09:37

My husband is still using every day. I've had to reduce the spin sessions to every few days as it was irritating an old leg injury. Still absolutely love it though!

Could you start with the digital package (just the App) to see if you like it? It is £20/month. There is running (tread and outdoor), yoga and lots more too, all included

jk746 · 16/03/2019 13:03

We are looking at buying one, just cancelled gym membership which was £200 a month (for a family of 5)

Those that have a peloton did you buy the shoes or buy shoes and cleats from elsewhere?

Pogglebon76 · 19/03/2019 20:46

I got the peleton shoes with it as as part of the package (with the mat and heart rate monitor). If someone refers you you get £100 off accessories which is helpful. If you don't know anyone who can refer you I can.

jk746 · 22/03/2019 20:25

Thank you for your reply, I’ve already ordered before your reply and used the code in this thread. Ordered the basic pack with shoes and it comes Monday :)

MtnBikeChick · 25/03/2019 14:54

I ummed and ahhhd about this for a while - my husband works 2 weeks a month in the US and had been using them in his hotel. I have had my Peloton 3 weeks now and I can hands down say it is the best thing I have ever done. The workouts are HARD. The classes are fun. I also have a road bike and a smart trainer (that i am now selling) that I used to use with zwift on ipad but that was so dull...I never tried hard enough...and the faff was epic, getting ipad on, connected, etc etc. The beauty of Peloton is you turn on, you go. I absolutely love it and it has given me an incredible new lease of life with my exercise. I am working out in small slots of time I wouldn't have bothered with before. Definitely worth it when you work out that the monthly cost (including the bike) isn't much more than going to a £20 Psycle class once or twice a week! You won't look back.

Cosmos45 · 04/04/2019 06:45

To anyone reading the thread on the fence about buying a peloton bike. I’ve had mine just over 3 months now. I’m spinning 4-5 times a week. We have a fabulous ladies only FB Page and set up group rides throughout the week. I am miles fitter, starting to really notice my body is changing shape. Still love it. No one on any of the uk FB pages seem to be suffering from buyers remorse. It’s an amazing piece of kit and worth every single penny. To pp asking about shoes, you can buy shoes elsewhere but beware, peloton don’t have the standard cleats they have SPD Delta so if you’re unsure what shoes you need maybe check the cleat fittings first.

scottrymac · 09/01/2020 04:58

Hello.. Its a exercise bike with a monitor for $3000 plus $39 a month for the content which is the only thing that makes it different from the high end exercise bike from the 70's. They took a $100 exercise bike added a $100 monitor and charge you 3k and $468 a year for life. The Peloton people are marketing gods. Suckers wanted!!

interestingdays · 12/01/2020 08:07

I agree. I am desperate to buy one for all of the reasons above.. with the addition of gym goers being totally territorial about their bike positions.
I just need to figure out where I have space for it. That's my issue
