Hello, right having survived a ‘run everyday February’ it is time to set out my challenge for March.

So this month I am planning to continue to run every day, again length of time or distance is not important but I do want to improve. I am also pledging to run 1000 miles by the end of 2018! Only 938 miles to go Shock

For March I am also going to continue to stay away from processed biscuits, sweets and cakes but will allow myself homemade versions (which I will try to make as healthily as possible.)

Ok, my work here is done. What will you do for March?

Yes I'm the same - only drink tea and coffee and very very rarely water, even after a run I would only drink a few gulps of water! My skin was horrendously dry and I was starting to look a bit weathered Blush I've been drinking 2 bottles (I think the bottle is 600 mls) since 1 March and yesterday a colleague said my skin was glowing! I've never had that said to me before!

Myview2 · 09/03/2018 13:10

Whoopy whoop, I dragged my husband out with me today so thought I’d get my last 5km of the week done whilst I had some company. When we finished I checked the distance and it was 5.9km so I’m now ahead of a schedule for the week and can get away with 2.5km on Saturday and Sunday.

I’m sitting here with a 2 litre water bottle too ASDwife in a quest to have glowing skin like you Grin

Asdwife · 09/03/2018 19:41

I'm sitting with my water bottle too myview! I want to keep glowing!
Still no running happening here. Torrential rain and 1 degree temp putting me off. Really not doing very well but not going to flog myself because I'm so happy about the glowing!!

Myview2 · 10/03/2018 17:06

My quest to glow has escaped me today, I need to drink lots of water immediately.

The weather is eugh! I just managed to talk myself into a run and I’m so glad only a short distance was required today-that was miserable but it’s done.

Where did everyone else go? How are you getting on with your March challenges?

OP posts:
Myview2 · 11/03/2018 12:10

I tried some fartleks today, made me feel like a proper runner Grin. My mileage is done for the week, still on target for my 1000 miles.

Off to drink some water to promote glowing now!

Have a lovely Sunday everybody.

OP posts:
Asdwife · 11/03/2018 21:01

What are fartleks?! I'm doing well with my glowing but not so well with the running. Struggling with childcare at the moment. I did a shaun t workout last night and if I can work up to hauling myself off the sofa I'll do one tonight too!
You're doing amazingly myview. How many consecutive days have you done now?

carrie74 · 12/03/2018 10:06

Everyone's doing v well. I've got a stinking cough at the moment (appeared out of nowhere, no other symptoms thankfully, so hopefully will bog off soon Grin). Anyway it's slightly put me off my stride, but I've completed 779 mins of activity so far this month, only 1146 to go, which averages at 60 mins a day, so not too bad. Will try to do a little workout after finishing work today at 3ish, then yoga at 6:30, so that will up my average.

Tried to do a little run on Saturday, first time in weeks (perhaps months...), did run/walk, and it went ok, now the evenings are starting to lengthen I might try to up the running a bit. Off on hols over Easter, and DH likes to go for a daily jog while away, so will try to join him here and there (and take some resistance bands with me for weights work). We're hitting Disney for a few days though, think the thousands of steps there should be enough Grin.

Myview2 · 12/03/2018 11:36

Those Shaun T workouts are brutal are they not ASDwife? I remember attempting his T25 workouts a few years back and not lasting very long! Have you done Insanity?

I hope you feel better soon Carrie-that is a huge amount of exercise you’ve done this month, very well done.

Fartleks are quick bursts of speed. I ran 4 lampposts at speed yesterday then 4 lampposts much slower. I’m sure some proper runners would have better advice but I believe the aim is to get quicker over time.

I overshot my target today and managed to run 10.5km this morning. I haven’t done that distance in ten years, I am delighted! That’s Day 40 of my running streak.

My water drinking remains rubbish, I didn’t touch a drop yesterday so made myself fill up a two litre bottle when I got back from running this morning and it’ll be beside me as I work until it’s gone. I will glow like ASDwife, I will I will!

OP posts:
Myview2 · 13/03/2018 20:11

A shorter run than planned today as I had some unexpected hospital trips yesterday and today. The patient is back home and seems well now though so back to the proper schedule tomorrow when I’m hopefully feeling a bit more with it.

OP posts:
Myview2 · 14/03/2018 09:23

Where has everybody gone? I’m looking forward to your updates but feeling all alone Sad

Part of my running ritual is reporting it here so I will bash on. After yesterday’s events I was keen to get back to some normality today, my 5km run this morning turned out to be 5.5km but I didn’t realise until I’d finished so no complaints there. It was my quickest pace too probably due to the fact that I parked at the top of a hill and run down. I’ll need to walk back up later!

OP posts:
Asdwife · 14/03/2018 21:24

I'm still here just having a manic few days with poorly dc and busy work schedule. Haven't run in ages but have done the Shaun t workout every day for the last 5 days - yes it's the insanity one and it is pretty brutal! I really enjoy it though!
Well done for managing a run even around hospital trips! Hope all is well there.

pontiouspilates · 15/03/2018 06:52

We're having a new bathroom fitted so it's really hard to run at the moment. I may have to shift my goals to April!

Myview2 · 15/03/2018 15:45

It is tricky to find the time ASDwife, I hope the kiddies are on the mend and great job on keeping at the Shaun T workouts whilst being so busy. My hospital goer son was dispatched back to school today as he was climbing the walls yesterday. Getting back to some normality now.

I shall accept your bathroom excuses Pontiouspilates and harass you in April instead!

How are you getting on Carrie?

Any more for any more?

I managed a 10k again today, not speedy but done and I’m looking forward to some shorter runs for the rest of the week.

OP posts:
pontiouspilates · 15/03/2018 17:06

Haha thanks myview - I look forward to it. I'm missing my exercise!

carrie74 · 16/03/2018 08:49

Hey Everyone

Sorry been busy busy at work and out every evening, but I'm getting my minutes in. My AppleWatch tells me I've done 1100 minutes of activity so far this month out of my 1925 target, so already over halfway, hurrah! Circuits last night and off to see my PT this morning, so still going!

Going to catch up on everyone else's progress now...

carrie74 · 16/03/2018 08:53

Wow great running, especially with hospital son complications! Running is definitely my nemesis - it's the only exercise that leaves me with a feeling of self loathing during and after. Still. I did a walk/run at the weekend, and will probably do some jogging while on holiday.

Good luck with the bathroom renovations, it's always unsettling having work going on In The home.

Insanity workouts intrigue me. Do they get repetitive (one reason I've abandoned the Shred in the past)?

Myview2 · 16/03/2018 18:34

I haven’t done the 30 day shred in a while and whilst it was a bit repetitive I found it really effective too. I like doing things everyday-can you tell?!

Great figures there Carrie.

I had an early flight this morning which should really be banned on a Friday as I’m shattered. I did consider doing 5k but it’s too windy and cold and 2.5km was bad enough! Soon it’ll time for wine though-have a lovely weekend folks.

OP posts:
Myview2 · 17/03/2018 15:26

Brrrr....it’s very cold and windy out there, I almost got blown over a couple of times Confused Just the 2.5km again today, on schedule for my 35km weekly target but if the weather is better tomorrow then I might attempt a little further.

Any otheupdates activity planned this weekend, some Shaun T perhaps?

OP posts:
Asdwife · 17/03/2018 21:24

Hello fellow repetitive exercisers! I also like doing things every day - I find if I aim for 3 times a week I struggle to keep the momentum and end up not doing it whereas if I know I'm doing something daily I just get on with it. I really like Shaun T and find his enthusiasm infectious.
Well done myview your running streak is impressive!

carrie74 · 18/03/2018 11:02

Morning All, another snow day! Just walked to yoga and back, and had quite a strong yoga session. A bit of sledging later and that should be my exercise down for today!only 623 more minutes of exercise this month to meet my Apple Watch March challenge.

I'm also linked with a (competitive) friend on our watches, and we're both on long move streaks (achieving our daily move goal consecutively- I'm on 46 days, he's on about 50). On Saturday I'm on a Transatlantic flight and then on Sunday a 7 hr drive, so trying to get creative on how best not to break my move streak Grin. That will annoy him haha!

Myview2 · 19/03/2018 16:29

Carrie I am intrigued how you are planning to keep up your moving streak whilst on a long haul flight and have visions of you doing walking squats up and down the aisle Grin

I recently discovered just how strenuous sledging is (especially when dragging a four year old back up the hill on said sledge) but it’s great fun, I only noticed the aching muscles the next day!

I do like Shaun T as well ASDwife, whilst he smiles through the pain!

I managed 3km running indoors yesterday as the weather was a bit iffy. I managed to get outside today though and as it was sunny thought I should get a 10km out the way. I am knackered but I did manage a pb so that is probably why! Off for a recovery (non-ice) bath now.

OP posts:
carrie74 · 19/03/2018 18:03

Ooh well done MyView, great to get some running in, I'd be a bit frightened of the ice. Might try a treadmill jog this evening to get my stats up..

Didn't even bother with sledging yesterday - DH had left his car at the station (12 miles away), so we had to dash out in between snow showers to bring it home so we could both get to work today Hmm. I got a lunch out of it though Grin. The kids came home and just wanted to curl up watching films and seeing friends.

Lol at getting my stats up when flying, I'm going to have to be very energetic at the airport somehow GrinConfused, can't let him win!!

Myview2 · 20/03/2018 12:49

It’s a beautiful day out there, made the running that more appealing! 5.2k today as I discovered my route was short and clearly have no idea how far 300 metres is so ran an extra 500 instead.

Carrie, I have been known to book myself into the airport hotel gym before a flight but I still think step lunges down the plane would be more fun Grin

I have somehow conveniently forgotten about the other part of my March pledge which was to only eat sweet things that I made myself. Well....hmmmm.... with all that running there’s been no time for baking and someone has brought tablet into my house twice now which has been scoffed. I have managed to only succumb max of twice a week though whereas before I was also a bit all or nothing with sweets and biscuits so progress has been made. My default position is not to eat them but sometimes it’s rude to refuse!

OP posts:
carrie74 · 20/03/2018 18:12

Still a result MyView. I cut out added sugar in January and have slowly added it back in - I'm now slightly less addicted than I was Blush. I found it really quite difficult when out, or popping round somewhere - biscuits and cake really is de rigeur...

I'll consider the walking lunges on the plane - ha, can you imagine!?!

Myview2 · 21/03/2018 14:02

Day 49 of the running streak and 2.8km to add to the pot. I am getting faster, I managed 1km in under 5 minutes today which I’m very pleased about. It still doesn’t feel any easier though!

I’ve got a couple of Fearne Cotton’s recipe books out the library and there’s a few recipes that I want to try to keep me in the sweet stuff but on the healthy side. I need to get various ingredients first. In the meantime I’m making pancakes this afternoon with ‘help’ from my four year old. His speciality is licking the bowl!

It is comforting to know that I’m not the only one that finds resisting sugar difficult. The struggle is real!
