What sport gives you the best body?

Hi all,

I reckon this is a frivolous thread and most likely already discussed in the past, BUT let's indulge Smile

What type of exercise shapes the female body in the most attractive way in your opinion?

Looking at some female athletes, I love the look of yoga/pilates teachers and ballerinas, with long and lean muscles and graceful bodies.

What do you think?

Thank you for your comments!

both yoga and pilates seem to lengthen and tone your own natural body shape, rather than transforming you into a certain type of body shape - e.g. you can tell a body builder or a cross fitter or a serious swimmer - not a bad thing at all, but I like that yoga and pilates make you the "best you" (I know I sound like a very cheesy wellness guru). Plus yoga seems to keep people young, old yogis tend to look fabulous!

Also: heptathletes are always babes. I think I'll ban my DP from watching the next summer olympics Grin

Acrobatics. Lean and strong.

HevvaSoBored · 11/01/2018 21:57

I've just done some yoga for the first time in 10 years and I haven't noticed any difference at all AngrySadEnvy

GreenFingeredGardener7 · 11/01/2018 22:00

Ballerinas = no tits.
I mean, I don't care. But most men I know would think that was not ideal.

Ridiculous comment. Why should women care so much about what men think? Anyway, most men would be frothing to date a ballerina if they could. Models don’t have large busts either, and I don’t think they are often hard up for dates Confused

"I think the swimmers physique is really aspirational tbh"

In women? In men, maybe. It gives broad shoulders and wide, flat, chests. Not generally considered the most feminine.
(Obviously, swimmers still look much better than me!)

Bobbyshafter · 11/01/2018 22:07

Dancing

Nancy91 · 11/01/2018 22:07

Obviously it depends how you want to look but I would say weightlifting. Nothing that claims to tone or lengthen muscles!

To be honest it's mainly diet that dictates how good your body looks anyway.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/01/2018 22:10

I'm surprised by people saying ballet. I find ballerinas too thin. I'm also surprised by tennis though, I can think of at least one chubby female tennis player (I realise it may actually be muscle or her underlying body shape, but she appears chubby to me).

RatRolyPoly · 11/01/2018 22:10

Hockey! Glutes and thighs people, glutes and thighs.

museumum · 11/01/2018 22:14

I think rowing.
But it’s not all about giving you a body shape it’s about selecting for certain types. Bring a heavyweight rower doesn’t make you 6’ tall. As doing ballet doesn’t make you teeny tiny petite.
Jess Ennis has to be close to a perfect body so maybe it’s multi-sport?

Gwenhwyfar · 11/01/2018 22:14

Darts lol!

RatRolyPoly · 11/01/2018 22:14

If my phone were working properly I'd post a picture of any of the world's top women's hockey teams. The Netherlands are generally agreed to be a mighty fine collection of women, as are GB, the Aussies, New Zealand...

MrsApplepants · 11/01/2018 22:16

Ballet for women, the posture, poise strength and long lean muscles. I personally find large breasts very unattractive so for me it’s the perfect shape but others may disagree.
Come to think of it male ballet dancers look pretty great too

Gwenhwyfar · 11/01/2018 22:19

I don't agree about Jess Ennis. Too thin and too muscly for my idea of the 'ideal for women'. Fit and healthy but a few curves would be better. I can't think of an athletes that fits though.

eurochick · 11/01/2018 22:19

Swimming for men.

Weights for women.

SoftSheen · 11/01/2018 22:20

Ballet.

Some professional horse riders have amazing physiques too.

greendale17 · 11/01/2018 22:21

I think the swimmers physique is really aspirational tbh. Still lean but with good strong muscle definition.

The lady swimmers I know have huge broad shoulders- no thanks!

GreenFingeredGardener7 · 11/01/2018 22:24

Ballet for me too. Slim but toned, elegant and not too muscular. Perfect!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/01/2018 22:30

I'd kill for Venus Williams' body, but with Serena's cleavage!

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 11/01/2018 22:33

Given the choice Id rather have boobs that men found preferable. Not uncomfortably huge of course. I've recently lost weight having put on and on post baby (now 15!) I used to be pretty flat but have got used to having what was, for me, quite a pair. (c cup) Now they're looking like the ones I had under my school blouse!!
